John Idoko told the court that the accused committed the offence between June 20, July 1 and Oct. 15, 2014, respectively around 12.30 a.m. at Parakin Area, in Ile-Ife.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444747028200_4867\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444747028200_4868\">Idoko said that the accused fraudulently obtained the sum of N1.4m and N500, 000 under false pretence from Mrs Comfort Taiwo and one Rebecca Orisatoberu respectively, and converted it to his personal use.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444747028200_4488\">He said that the accused had promised Taiwo and Orisatoberu that he would procure visa for their daughters to study in the UK, which was false.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444747028200_4871\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444747028200_4373\">According to him, the offence was contrary to section 383 (1) and punishable under section 390 (8), (b), (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444747028200_4870\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444747028200_4833\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444747028200_4376\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444747028200_4879\">The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining money under false presence, conversion of N1.9 million to personal use and stealing.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444747028200_4878\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444747028200_4836\">The Defence Counsel, Mr Michael Koyejo, pleaded for the bail of his client, saying that the accused would provide reliable sureties and pledged that he would not jump bail.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444747028200_4487\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444747028200_4877\">Magistrate Adedotun Ayeni granted the accused bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties each in like sum.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444747028200_4876\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444747028200_4718\">Ayeni added that the sureties must swear to affidavit of means, produce two recent passport photographs with three years tax clearance certificate.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Police on Tuesday arraigned 46-year-old Isaac Oloyede in Ile-Ife Magistrate\u2019s Court, for alleged N1.9 million visa fraud.
