Buhari, who was speaking\u00a0in an\u00a0exclusive interview with Mehdi Hasan on\u00a0Al Jazeera English\u2019s \u2018Upfront\u2019, said he would instead \u00a0be\u00a0\u201cdetermined to stay on\u00a0and fight it out\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444996408968_6917\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444996408968_6919\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444996408968_6918\">\u00a0In the interview, which won\u2019t be aired until Friday night, the president\u00a0also reiterated\u00a0his willingness to do a deal with Boko Haram to free the kidnapped Chibok girls on the condition that the true leaders of the sect are the ones to be dialogued with. \u201cWe said it and we meant it,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444996408968_6921\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444996408968_6920\">\u00a0\u201cThey have to prove to us that they are alive, they are well, and then we can\u2026negotiate with them. We said it and we meant it. If we are satisfied that the girls are alive.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444996408968_6922\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Asked whether he would offer financial payments, or a prisoner release, to Boko Haram in return for the girls, he\u00a0refrained from ruling out either option, saying: \u201cWell, it depends on the negotiations with the leadership of Boko Haram.\u201d Still, he expressed assurance that\u00a0Boko Haram will be defeated by the end of 2015, saying: \u201cAs soon as the rainy season comes, which is by the end of the year\u2026 Boko Haram will virtually be out of their main stronghold and that will be the end of it\u2026.
