Despite the hues over the so called sterling performance of the All\u00a0Progressive Congress, APC, in Lagos State, the party appears to have no\u00a0single policy on how best to fix broken down infrastructures in Lagos
\nSchools.<\/p>\n

Students in most schools in Lagos State learn under the harshest\u00a0environment with broken down class rooms.<\/p>\n

Teachers and Students most times are forced to stay home during rainy\u00a0seasons for fear of possible building collapse.<\/p>\n

Ikorodu High School located along Shagamu road, Ikorodu, is a classic\u00a0example of the APC\u2019s Government of Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Babatunde Fashola\u00a0and now Akninwumi Ambode\u2019s lackluster plan on how best to fix broken down\u00a0schools in Lagos State.<\/p>\n

Virtually all classrooms and teachers offices have been broken down.\u00a0Students sometimes take classes under the trees while teachers hardly stay\u00a0in school after classes because they have no offices to stay.<\/p>\n

It is a thing of shame for Lagos state prided as the most urbane and\u00a0cosmopolitan state in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1971 by Mrs. Benson, wife of Elder statesman TOS Benson, the\u00a0school was handed over to the Lagos state Government in 1976.\u00a0 Since after\u00a0the Governor Lateef Jakande regime, no new structure has been erected\u00a0while old ones rot away, according to a teacher who spoke anonymously.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been forced to abandon classes and students hardly come to\u00a0classes. During rainy seasons, it is the worst place to be. This has been\u00a0happening for almost 20 years now. All we get is promises and promises. We\u00a0have representations in both state and Federal but they don\u2019t care,\u201d\u00a0another teacher who simply gave his name as Mr. Ade told\u00a0Pointblanknews.com<\/p>\n

A civil servant with the Lagos State Ministry of Education who also does\u00a0not want to be named told Pointblanknews.com that he is shocked at the\u00a0state of the school because he is aware budgetary provisions have been\u00a0made for repairs of schools in Lagos State.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very much in shock. I work at the Ministry of Education and I am\u00a0aware budgetary provisions are made annually for repairs of Schools in\u00a0Lagos State. I don\u2019t know why this one has not been fixed,\u201d the civil\u00a0servant said.<\/p>\n

Abijo Akeem, Chairman of the Ikorodu High School Old Student Association\u00a0of 1992 set said the association is at the process of filing a petition\u00a0before the State Government over the deplorable condition of the school.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the Government does not fix that school, it would become extinct. We\u00a0are planning a petition to be sent to the State Governor, the Ministry of\u00a0Education and the Lagos State House of Assembly. We cannot afford to leave\u00a0the school the way it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Akeem added, \u201cif we are to groom leaders of tomorrow, they should be\u00a0groomed and trained at a very conducive environment that would guarantee\u00a0that they get the best form of education to be able to lead this country\u00a0well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pointblanknews.com investigation shows that not only in Ikorodu are\u00a0schools abandoned. Mushin, Agege, Isolo, Alimosho and other local\u00a0Governments have schools with broken down infrastructures which prior\u00a0government and the current one simply have turned blind eyes to.<\/p>\n

Sources say sometimes government prioritizes projects based purely on\u00a0politics. In Local Governments where the ruling Party doesn\u2019t have total\u00a0control or support, they tend not to care about the welfare of the people.
