One of Nigeria\u2019s most versatile young businessmen, Igho Sanomi, has again
\nemerged tops in the latest ranking of the top 100 young economic leaders
\nof Africa, the Institut Choiseul for international Politics and
\nGeo-economics has announced.<\/p>\n
Mr. Sanomi, who is approaching 40, emerged the 2015 winner of \u201cThe
\nChoiseul 100 Africa Economic Leaders for Tomorrow\u201d announced on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The young Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Taleveras Group, was the
\nrecipient of the maiden award in 2014.<\/p>\n
Mr. Sanomi winner with the CEO of Tanzanian MeTL, Mohammed Dewji, in
\nsecond place, and CEO, Qalaa Holding of Egypt, Hisham El Khazindar, in
\nthird.<\/p>\n
Another Nigeria was also in the top ten. CEO, Century Group, Nigeria, Ken
\nEtete, was listed number seven.<\/p>\n
CEO, Saham Assurance Morocco of Morocco, Mehdi Tazi, was fourth; followed
\nby President, DTS-MOOV Madagascar of Madagascar, Hassanein Hiridjee; CEO,
\nABSA Capital, South Africa, Nomkhita Nqweni.<\/p>\n
Other winners include the Head of Securities & Asset Management, Ecobank
\nGroup, Togo, Paul-Harry Aithnard; CEO, SpotOne, Senegal, Marieme Jamme,
\nand CEO, Petro Ivoire of Ivory Coast, S\u00e9bastien Kadio-Morokro.<\/p>\n
President, Institut Choiseul, Pascal Lorot, said Mr. Sanomi was selected
\nfor \u201chis exceptional professional path, his energy and his contribution to
\nthe rise of Africa as a major economical player.\u201d<\/p>\n
Describing Mr. Sanomi as a \u201ctremendous dynamic\u201d, Mr. Lorot said he is
\n\u201clinked to the emergence of a young economic leading class, well trained,
\nwith an open outlook, connected to global economic and information flows
\ngenerated by globalization.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said the young leaders who have been recognised as winners are \u201cshaping
\na modern African economy, open to the world, with new opportunities
\nflourishing everywhere these days.\u201d<\/p>\n
With the business activities of the winners, the President of the Institut
\nsaid capital flows to Africa reached $80 billion in 2014, adding that it
\nwas projected to rise up to $100 billion in 2015.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose young leaders are carrying the future of their continent,\u201d Mr.
\nLorot noted. \u201cThey send a great message of hope. Africa has taken a
\nsuccessful start indeed; it is willing to be part of global growth and
\nactivity! This is the very reality the Choiseul 100 Africa intends to
\npromote.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a unique ranking of young African economic leaders under forty years
\nold and below, the study intends to highlight these women and men who
\nbuild today\u2019s Africa and prepare the one of tomorrow.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy honouring them, by presenting them to the world, the way Africa is
\nperceived is changing. It\u2019s becoming more positive and more accurate to
\nwhat the continent is really today: a land full of future promise for
\nhumanity\u2019s history.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reacting to the award, Mr. Sanomi expressed delight for recognition of the
\nwork he has been doing in Africa, saying he was particularly honoured that
\nhe would be receiving the recognition for the second consecutive year.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is humbling for me to be recognized by the Institut Choiseul, that
\nhave for years anticipated great changes, emerging opportunities and
\ntalents, to fertilize strategic thinking and discuss governance issues
\naround the world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr. Sanomi assured that like fellow winners, he has taken seriously the
\nresponsibility for the advancement of Africa and I will continue to work
\nto this end.<\/p>\n
The annual independent ranking, in its second year, undertakes to rank
\nyoung African leaders below age 40, who, through their various roles have
\npositively impacted the prospects of Africa\u2019s economic development in the
\nnear future.<\/p>\n
The Choiseul 100 is a result of several months of work by many experts and
\nspecialists on the continent involved in the research to identify the
\nAfrican leaders for tomorrow.<\/p>\n
Prospective candidates who should be citizens of the 54 African states,
\nmust be 40 years old or below on by January 1, 2015 as well as an active
\ncontributor to the economic development and prosperity of Africa.<\/p>\n
Organisers said several weighted selection criteria were taken into
\naccount, while the total scores obtained in the different categories
\ndetermined the position of each laureate in the final ranking.<\/p>\n
In 2004, Mr. Sanomi had established Taleveras, provider of strategic
\nsolutions in energy and power sectors.<\/p>\n
An international organization with offices in London, Geneva, Abuja,
\nLagos, Abidjan, Cape Town and Dubai, Televeras offer energy services
\ncovering the physical sourcing and marketing of oil on a global scale.<\/p>\n
The company is also involved in upstream oil and gas industry operations,
\nwith a major focus on acquiring drilling rights for viable, proven oil
\nreserves.<\/p>\n
The company has earned for itself a credible reputation as a first class

The formal investiture of the award is scheduled for November 26, 2015
\nduring the Choiseul 100 Africa meeting scheduled for Marrakech in Morocco.
