Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson on Monday urged the people of
\nthe state to use the period of this year\u2019s thanksgiving day celebration to
\nreflect on issues that would promote peace, unity and progress of Bayelsa.<\/p>\n
Governor Dickson made the call, while speaking at the 4th edition of the
\nBayelsa State Thanksgiving Day celebration at the Dr. Gabriel Okara
\nCultural Centre in Yenagoa.<\/p>\n
Reiterating that every November 2nd has been set aside for Bayelsans
\nwithin and outside the state to honour and thank God for His blessings,
\nthe Governor noted that, the event was in accordance with the Bayelsa
\nState Thanksgiving Day Law enacted in 2012.<\/p>\n
He described the thanksgiving day celebration as significant as it was
\ntaking place at a time when the state was preparing for the December 5th
\nGovernorship poll and enjoined the people to key into the event by praying
\nfor Bayelsa as well as ask for forgiveness and blessings upon their lives.<\/p>\n
Governor Dickson, who re-dedicated his administration to service delivery,
\nstressed that, he who renders selfless service to mankind ultimately
\noffers service to God, which he said was in conformity with his guiding
\nphilosophy in life.<\/p>\n
His words: \u201cThis is the new spirit of Bayelsa. In the new Bayelsa, what we
\nmean is that Bayelsa is now driven by God. He takes centre stage and all
\nof us are only instruments to do what is right, good and fair.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a day for those of us in service and authority to re-dedicate
\nourselves to the principles of our government, which is service to man and
\nGod. This year\u2019s time of thanksgiving is coming at a crucial moment in the
\nlife of our state, when we are gearing up for election.<\/p>\n
Reminding the people that his campaign organization would soon embark on a
\ntour of the communities, he said the tour would afford him the opportunity
\nto assess the needs of the people.<\/p>\n
Governor Dickson also called on his supporters to eschew violence,
\nemphasizing that, nobody\u2019s political ambition was worth shedding anybody\u2019s
\nblood.<\/p>\n
In a message titled, \u201cUnderstanding Life\u201d by the DUNAMIS International
\nCentre, Pastor Paul Eneche, spoke on the essence of life and urged the
\ncongregation to live a righteous life.<\/p>\n
According to him, life is a gift from God as well as a privilege rather
\nthan a right and people should strive to impact positively on humanity.<\/p>\n
Pastor Eneche said, \u201cGod gave us life and must be used to the pleasure of
