We the “wailing wailers” are today\u2019s watchmen and we cannot
\nafford to get it wrong another time.<\/p>\n
It all began on Tuesday, July 1, 2015; \u201cIf PDP has begun to cry wolf where
\nthere was none on INEC chairman, then they should be set for louder
\nlamentations. The wailing wailers,\u201d the Presidential mouthpiece, Femi
\nAdesina tweeted.<\/p>\n

When Adesina infamously branded the opposition Peoples Democratic Party,
\nPDP, \u201cwailing wailers,\u201d he broke the internet with that swipe, at least as
\nfar as Nigerians were concerned.<\/p>\n
My beloved friend, brother and journalist based in Sierra Leone, adopted
\nit as his \u201cnational anthem,” and would not go a day without hurling the
\nword at me at the slightest provocation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWailing wailers\u201d dominated this young vibrant journalist’s lexicon. He
\nsaid it, drummed it, hummed it and became obsessed with it. I nearly
\nthought he had gone nuts.<\/p>\n
Six months after Buhari’s victory, my friend has gone mute, and now cuts a
\nsorry figure. You see, he cannot criticise the government to me, he cannot
\npossibly try to put on the “wailers garb” now can he?<\/p>\n
Edo State Governor and self acclaimed Presidential Spokesman; Adams
\nOshiomhole popular for his face and his unfounded earth quaking
\nrevelations has gone underground, \u201cwater don pass garri.\u201d<\/p>\n
Oshiomhole can no longer throw figures about; else he will be battling
\nwith a cumulative figure close to the United State’s budget.<\/p>\n
Cut to the gross picture of Buhari in New Delhi, India, saying \u201cwe are
\nbroke, we cannot pay Ministers\u2026 that many Ministers,\u201d Ministers will sit
\nin council but will use the information gotten from there for nothing, we
\nare \u201cmaterially and morally vandalized\u201d bla bla bla…(all paraphrased of
\ncourse, even the C-in-C wails sometimes.)<\/p>\n
The Jagaban, Ahmed Bola Tinubu in a recent piece written by the Chairman
\nof his The Nation newspaper Sam Omatseye, retorted: \u201cIf the President says
\nwe have been materially vandalised, it is no new wisdom.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf a lot of our money has been stolen, what is the progress in getting
\nthem back? We need the money. We don\u2019t want a President who will lament.\u201d<\/p>\n
Senate President Bukola Saraki is a thorn in Buhari\u2019s flesh.\u00a0 Umar Danladi
\nat the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, is bent on giving Buhari a bad name
\nwith his overzealousness, ignoring procedures while dishing out summons.<\/p>\n
The Biafra boys are a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. The “decrees”
\nGMB has been issuing these days, seem inadequate to stop the bomb from
\ngoing off. Perhaps, moving the Command and Control Centre of the military
\nto far away N\/East is making the boys feel too relaxed.<\/p>\n
The inglorious recession drums of the Central Bank Chief are becoming more
\naudible. Our Naira has plummeted; in fact biscuit for Abuja don go back to
\nhim emaciated self, with three for one pack. The Chibok Girls are not yet
\nback and with the recent blasts, I no trust any traffic jam these days,
\nGod forbid bad thing.<\/p>\n
Somebody said that \u201cthe disease wey wan kill dog go first kill him sense
\nof smell.\u201d Honestly, it is safe to conclude that the APC has no agenda, no
\neconomic policies and lacks direction.<\/p>\n
The clear discord between the leader of the party and those who put him in
\noffice with frivolous campaign promises, make me cringe for what I see
\ncoming.<\/p>\n
It is a pity that the elusive “change” has become \u201cone chance.\u201d<\/p>\n
Even my friends, who made my life miserable when GEJ was kicked out of
\noffice, admit that Buhari has not shown any sign of developing the
\neconomy. Baba is still dilly dallying.<\/p>\n
Buhari’s issues are self-inflicted and he must own up to them.<\/p>\n
Does something in that Villa make you think everyone else is the problem
\nand not you? Mr. President must get the job done or excuse yourself, the
\noffice no be by force na?!<\/p>\n
None of the countries visited by PMB since he moved to Aso Rock, blame
\npast governments for their current woes months after assuming power.<\/p>\n
Campaigns ended over 6 months ago, yet Buhari has failed to realize that
\nhe is now in charge. Government is an institution. In developed countries,
\nwhen you take over power, you quietly bear the brunt of what the
\ninstitution brought upon the people.<\/p>\n
We have to realize that once elections are over, we must all accept the
\noutcome and learn to work with each other.<\/p>\n
Enough of this rear view mirror focus we have been regaled with these past
\nfew months. It is time to man up and take responsibility for the way
\nthings are and take action to make progress.<\/p>\n
Our runaway brothers who chanted \u201cSai Baba” and sang \u201cMasu gudu su gudu,”
\nplease feel free to defend Nigeria, we must all speak up against bad
\ngovernment, whether we supported it for office or not.<\/p>\n
We the “wailing wailers” are today\u2019s watchmen and we cannot afford to get
\nit wrong another time. We reveled in the euphoria of GEJ’s victory in
\n2011, see where that got us.<\/p>\n
