Operatives of the Department of State Services are laying siege to the Asokoro residence of the immediate past National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd).<\/p>\n
The operatives, in two black vans of the secret police, were at the gate of the residence of the former NSA as of the time of filing this report.<\/p>\n
Despite a court order.\u00a0 the DSS operatives besieged the residence of Dasuki with the intent to prevent him from embarking on a planned trip to the UK for medical treatment.<\/p>\n
It was gathered that Dasuki was billed to travel out of the country on Wednesday night through a Lufthansa flight but had to call off the trip when it was discovered that DSS operatives were waiting for him at the airport.<\/p>\n
He was said to have decided to postpone the journey to Thursday in order to avoid any incident at the airport.<\/p>\n
The source said the former NSA was surprised when his residence was again besieged by operatives of the SSS on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The source said, \u201cThe SSS are raiding the residence of the former NSA, Dasuki again.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe really can\u2019t say why they went there. They were with two of their operational vehicles painted in black and are parked outside.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou know that the man was to travel to the UK via a Lufthansa Flight on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe man had to call off the journey when it was realised that the SSS had gone to the airport to lay siege to him.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen, this morning, they went to the house, nobody knows their intention for now.\u201d<\/p>\n
The SSS had raided the residence of the former NSA on July 19, 2015 and confiscated his international passport.<\/p>\n
He was later arraigned in court for illegal possession of firearms and illegal possession of local and foreign currencies.<\/p>\n
However, the Presiding Judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola, ordered the release of the passport to Dasuki in a ruling on Tuesday in response to a motion filed by Dasuki\u2019s legal team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
