{"id":43548,"date":"2015-11-09T12:24:37","date_gmt":"2015-11-09T11:24:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=43548"},"modified":"2015-11-09T19:50:12","modified_gmt":"2015-11-09T18:50:12","slug":"orubebe-trial-ccb-fails-to-produce-witness-adjourns-to-nov-26","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/orubebe-trial-ccb-fails-to-produce-witness-adjourns-to-nov-26\/","title":{"rendered":"Orubebe Trial: CCB fails to produce witness, adjourns to Nov 26"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The trial of former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday<br \/>\nOrubebe, by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) over alleged four count<br \/>\ncharge of false declaration of assets and acceptance of about N70million<br \/>\nbribe, took a dramatic turn <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_887402354\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Monday<\/span><\/span>, as the prosecution counsel failed<br \/>\nto produce witnesses against the ex-minister.<\/p>\n<p>After Orubebe pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against him,<br \/>\nthe counsel to the prosecution, Ibrahim Usman, told the court, that he<br \/>\nwould like to request an adjournment since his witnesses were not in<br \/>\ncourt.<\/p>\n<p>The defence counsel, Selekeowe Larry, asked the tribunal to demand a<br \/>\nstatement of necessary evidences, according to rule 5 subsection 1, of the<br \/>\nrules of the tribunal.<\/p>\n<p>The tribunal judge, Umar Danladi, however, said the matter yearning for<br \/>\ndetermination at the court was not for the prosecution counsel to state<br \/>\nthe evidence but for them to produce the said witnesses to do so.<\/p>\n<p>He frowned at the inability of Mr. Usman and his team to produce the<br \/>\nwitnesses.<\/p>\n<p>The request by Mr. Larry to have his client released on bail was not<br \/>\ngranted, as Mr. Danladi said the court had no reason to discuss his arrest<br \/>\nor bail.<\/p>\n<p>He said Mr. Orubebe was expected to always appear before the court.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Danladi ruled that the matter be adjourned till <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_887402355\"><span class=\"aQJ\">26 November<\/span><\/span> for a<br \/>\ndefinite hearing.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The trial of former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) over alleged four count charge of false declaration of assets and&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":43557,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-43548","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
