The wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, has urged\u00a0\u00a0 the\u00a0 All Progressives Congress, APC, to fulfill its campaign promise of paying N5,000 to 25 million unemployed Nigerians or lose\u00a0 credibility.<\/p>\n
This came\u00a0 a week after the Senate voted against a motion calling on the government to commence payment of the N5, 000 allowance.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Buhari also urged the party to fulfil its promise of giving school children one free meal a day.<\/p>\n
This is contained in a statement signed by her Special Assistant on Media, Adebisi Ajayi.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Buhari said in a statement that the APC must keep its words.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe APC is a party of integrity and has assured Nigerians during the campaign that it will pay N5, 000 each month to 25 million most vulnerable citizens.<\/p>\n
\u201cNigerians should be patient with the APC government as the change they had been yearning for has come to stay,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The PDP had\u00a0 accused the APC of reneging on its promise.<\/p>\n
In a statement on Wednesday, the party said the APC senators were only doing the bidding of their party, which it said had only used the monthly stipend pledge as a false campaign strategy to win elections.
