The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party says the
\nappointment of the former State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi as the Minister
\nof Transportation will not make any meaningful impact to the Rivers people
\nbecause he is a misfit.<\/p>\n
Bro Felix Obuah, the State chairman of the party said this through a
\nstatement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam
\nwhile reacting to the official swearing in of the new Ministers and
\nassigning of portfolios to them.<\/p>\n
According to the State PDP boss, a ministerial slot for Rivers State given
\nto Amaechi is a loss to the State because he (Amaechi) is at war with the
\nState and does not believe in the development vision of the State
\nGovernor, Chief Barr Nyesom Wike.<\/p>\n
His appointment has put a question mark on the Buhari’s war against
\ncorruption and has given Nigerians a clear picture that\u00a0 Buhari’s war
\nagainst corruption is targeted at perceived political enemies and
\nopponents.<\/p>\n
Amaechi, the State PDP boss noted, has demonstrated in his actions and
\nconduct not to support or appreciate any development plan that does not
\nhave his endorsement or that of his acolytes which is not good for any
\ngroup of people that desire progress.<\/p>\n
\u201cRivers State has an appreciable number of qualified, prudent and humble
\nsons and daughters with burning desire to move the State forward and help
\npromote the existing peace and love among the people which Gov Wike has
\ngraciously put in place in only five months in office.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ll therefore be happy to have the federal government or any other
\nagency that means well for the State to always pick from this pool of
\nresourceful and more enterprising human capital other than those with
\npenchant for misleading, mishandling and mismanaging the scare resources
\nof the State as exemplified by the Amaechi administration\u201d, Bro Obuah
\nadvised.<\/p>\n
It would be recalled that despite the stiff opposition to the nomination
\nof former Gov Chibuike Amaechi as a Ministerial nominee by both Rivers
\npeople\u00a0 and Nigerians, President Buhari still went ahead to ratify his
\nnomination by appointing him the Minister of Transportation.<\/p>\n
To register their disapproval of Amaechi\u2019s appointment, all PDP Senators
\nwalked out of the National Assembly for allowing the APC members\u2019
\ninsistence on Amaechi\u2019s confirmation which the PDP described as official
\ninstitutionalization of corruption in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Majority of Nigerians also have in one voice kicked against Amaechi\u2019s
