Sokoto Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has set up a technical committee
\nfor the actualisation of the $250m food processing factory in the state.<\/p>\n
The committee, according to a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesman,
\nMalam Imam Imam, will work with the company setting up the project, Erisco
\nFoods Ltd, to ensure its realisation early next year.<\/p>\n
Speaking when he received the management team of Erisco Foods in his office
\nin Sokoto, Tambuwal said Sokoto is open to business for all investors
\nwilling to invest in the state. He said his policy of looking for Nigerian
\ninvestors will continue because the country has capable businessmen that
\nwill make necessary difference in key areas.<\/p>\n
“Establishment of the agro-based company will bring about development of
\nthe agricultural sector and provide job opportunities for our people. On
\nour part, we will provide necessary incentives to encourage both local and
\ninternational investors that want to invest in the state.<\/p>\n
“Today’s visit shows the resolve of the government to accelerate growth of
\nthe economy to improving the living standards of the citizens,” Tambuwal
\nadded.<\/p>\n
The technical committee is to be headed by the former Deputy Governor of
\nSokoto, Chiso Dattijo. Other members include commissioners of commerce and
\nindustries, agriculture, environment and works, while Engineer Lawal
\nMaidoki will serve as the Secretary.<\/p>\n
In his remark Chairman of Erisco Foods, Chief Eric Umeofia, said apart from
\nthe food processing factory, his company is working with foreign partners
\nto see to the possibility of setting up a tractor manufacturing company
