Embattled Governor of Taraba State, Dairus Ishyaku yesterday said if the
\nAppeal Court decides to order a rerun election in the state, he was
\nconfident of winning even if it is done ten times.<\/p>\n
Ishyaku was recently sacked by the Elections Petitions Tribunal which
\nannuled his election on the grounds\u00a0 that he didn’t emerge through a
\nproperly conducted party primary.<\/p>\n
He, however said he had absolute confidence in the judiciary to ‘right the
\nwrong,” referring to the annuled election.<\/p>\n
\u00fdThe governor spoke at the Presidential Villa, Abuja after a brief meeting
\nwith President Muhammadu Buhari.<\/p>\n
“I came to brief the President on the security situation in my state and
\nto keep him abreast of recent\u00a0 happenings. So far we thank God everywhere
\nis calm,there is peace everywhere and I came to update him to let him know
\nwe are doing our best to keep the state in a peaceful atmosphere,\u201d he
\nsaid.
\n\u00fd
\n“I have appealed against the election tribunal judgment and I am also
\nappealing to all the citizens in my state to be calm because I still have
\na lot of confidence on the judiciary and the Appeal Court will do what is
\ncorrect and right. The important thing for us as leaders is that our first
\nduty is to protect lives and properties. I am quite sensitive to any
\nunrest and I have told my people to be patient, peaceful,\u00a0 law abiding and
\nallow the judiciary to do its work.<\/p>\n
“I have gone to election two times and the second was a bit more than the
\nfirst and I am on the third election now. I am so confident, If I contest
\n10 times I will win. By the grace of God the people have given me their
\nmandate and I know the God I believe in will keep that mandate for the
\npeople.<\/p>\n
“God who has brought me this far will sustain me. The mandate of the
