The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is bracing up for a nationwide<\/p>\n
showdown over the inability of the Federal Government to solve the
\nrecurring fuel scarcity in the country.<\/p>\n
According to available reports, some executive members of the labour
\nunion are in constant meetings in order to inform other members
\nregarding the strike action.<\/p>\n
Yesterday, some unnamed labour leaders issued warning while speaking
\nwith journalists, that the possibility of a nationwide strike is in no
\ndoubt if an immediate solution is not provided to end the scarcity
\nissue on time.<\/p>\n
The Oyo State NLC chairman, Comrade Waheed Olojede , in a statement
\nregarding situation of workers, described the continuous fuel scarcity
\nas \u201cnational disaster\u201d.<\/p>\n
He said the continued fuel scarcity has put workers in difficult
\nsituation, adding that workers in the state are unable to go to work
\nanymore due to hike in transport fares.<\/p>\n
He said that the multiplier effect on the workers\u2019 financial strength
\nis enormous, especially when their salaries cannot be guaranteed on a
\nmonthly basis.<\/p>\n
It would be recalled that a Senators representing Abia state, Eyinnaya
\nAbaribe has also spoken about the lingering fuel shortage. He urged
\nthe upper chambers to summon President Muhammadu Buhari to come to the
\nSenate and explain the reasons for the lingering scarcity in the
