Some youths in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, on<\/p>\n
Wednesday, cautioned wife of the immediate past governor of Ekiti
\nState and Minister of Solid Minerals, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, on the
\nalleged derogatory remark on the people of the State, saying “Ekiti
\npeople deserve length of respect and act of public dancing should not
\nbecloud her moral consciousness.”<\/p>\n
The youths, under the aegis of Ekiti APC Youths Congres (EAYC) said
\nthe noble indigenes of the fountain of knowledge cannot continue to
\nwatch while their heritage being trampled upon and rubbished on
\npolitical stances.<\/p>\n
The statement, jointly signed by the Convener, Mr Tope Ogunkuade and
\nSecretary, Comrade Tunji Adeleye, and made available to news men
\nonline, read in part; “The Splash, a media outfit, on Tuesday reported
\nthat Erelu Bisi Fayemi described Ekiti people as ‘Mari, Maje.’ On
\nWednesday, we read her rejoinder, but not convincing enough.<\/p>\n
“Firstly, we want to strongly disagree with Her Excellency that Ekiti
\npeople are not what she called. No, and never shall we be.<\/p>\n
“Again, we want to reject the purported rejoinder written by one
\nOyebode Olayinka, saying the first lady didn’t call Ekiti people
\n‘Juice lickers,’ on the ground that such sensitive issue cannot and
\nmust not be reacted to on mere social media.<\/p>\n
“Even though we are of the APC, we cannot keep silent when our people
\nare being roundly insulted our by anyone irrespective of party
\naffiliation.<\/p>\n
“Most importantly, it is a known fact that Erelu Bisi Fayemi’s
\noverbearing attitude contributed to the collapse of her husband’s
\ndefeat and downfall of the APC in Ekiti State.<\/p>\n
“Therefore, we can’t imagine her person allegedly reacting to such
\nsensitive issue of public concern on social media after she has said
\nposts on the same medium should not be taken serious. How sincere
\nshould Ekiti now take her remorseful rejoinder,” the youths asked.<\/p>\n
The youths also frowned at the utterances referenced to the former
\nfirst lady, that reads, “My phones stopped ringing after my husband
\nlost election in Ekiti; started buzzing again after he got appointed
\nas minister. Mari, maje ti poju l’Ekiti,” and x-rayed her rejoinder as
\nflimsy as her utterances.<\/p>\n
They said the former first lady never acted as a good leader to Ekiti
\nwomen fold when her husband was in government, adding that, “as far as
\nEkiti is concerned, morally and academically, dancing was never a
\ncelebrated virtue.<\/p>\n
“You don’t need anybody to analyse a woman who boldly said what lies
\nahead of women nowadays in politics goes beyond domestic and
\nmatrimonial obligations, before you know she is not well cultured,
\nprimarily as a wife and also a mother in a home.<\/p>\n
“Dancing round the street like a ‘clubie’ is not a virtue. And
\nspeaking queen English like ‘the white’ doesn’t connote having moral
\nstandard within.<\/p>\n
“It is therefore on these notes that our group want to call on the
\nformer first lady, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, to publicly apologise to the
\nentirety of Ekiti people, both within and outside the country, if
