The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is leading at the Governorship\u00a0elections in Bayelsa State from results trickling in, according to\u00a0Pointblanknews.com correspondent in Yenogoa.<\/p>\n
Results from Sagbama, Kolokuma Okpokuma, Nembe and Ogbia shows the PDP\u00a0candidate, Hon. Seriaki Dickson leading.<\/p>\n
Although the elections in Sagbama Local Government Areas has been very\u00a0peaceful, reports from other Local Government Areas in the state are\u00a0worrisome as there is reported electoral violence in Southern Ijaw Local\u00a0Government Area and Nembe Local Government Area of the State.<\/p>\n
The Independent National Electoral Commission and the police confirmed\u00a0that election in some places in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area has\u00a0been postponed due to the late take off of the exercise in the area.<\/p>\n
INEC Director of Voters Education and Publicity, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi and\u00a0Police Commissioner, Operations, David Folawiyo, confirmed the\u00a0postponement while speaking on a programme on the Nigeria Television\u00a0Authority.<\/p>\n
Mr. Folawiyo said, \u201cWe got word from Bayelsa that polling officials and\u00a0electoral officials have met and have taken decision to continue tomorrow\u00a0in such places where there was violence so that they don\u2019t go far into the\u00a0night or enter in the night. The decision was taken by electoral official\u00a0not the police.\u201d<\/p>\n
