The spokesperson for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh has suggested that the Federal Government may want to use the EFCC to silence him.<\/p>\n

He said in Abuja ” …on account of recent information available to me, I now have cause to believe that the Federal Government is desperate and may have finalized plans to silence me”<\/p>\n

While insisting he never got cash for any contract Metuh however added a curious twist ” in the course of my duties , the then president invited and directed I carry out some assignments relating to my\u00a0 office and which \u201che duly funded\u201d.<\/p>\n

Metuh ‘ s statement on Tuesday points to one possibility,\u00a0 he may soon be named as one of those who got tons of cash from Sambo Dasuki.
\nBut Metuh maintained today that\u00a0 he never benefitted from any government contract during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.<\/p>\n

\nMetuh said in the last seven months, as an opposition spokesperson, he has been \u201chounded, harassed, intimidated and threatened severally\u201d.<\/p>\n

He added that it was in order to avoid personal and family pressure that he refrained from informing the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs someone who has been a private person, having not taken any public office, the choice of where, how and when to invest and conduct my personal business remains my prerogative.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this regard, I note that I never had any contract dealings with the immediate past Federal Government or any of its security apparatus,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important to note that the former president was fully satisfied with the way and manner I handled the assignment\u201d Mr. Metuh said.
\nHe called on the present government \u201cnot use the apparatus of state power to settle personal scores\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
