A scorpion being a poor swimmer asked a turtle to carry\u00a0 him on his
\nback across a river. In its wisdom,the turtle stressed that what of
\n‘if you sting me while swimming\u00a0 and I will drown’. The scorpion
\nreplied that there was no logic in it because ‘if you sink,I will sink
\nwith you’. With this dialogue,the turtle was convinced that the
\nScorpion would keep its sting for safety too,but the expected happened
\nin the middle of the river as the scorpion sting the turtle heavily
\nwhile still at its back,and the turtle began to sink so also the
\nscorpion.
\nHowever while the duo were sinking,another round of conversations
\nbegan,turtle said:’but I thought you said that there was no logic in
\nsting me while helping you to cross the river,what made you do it
\nnow’? and the drowning scorpion sadly replied. ‘It is not a matter of
\nlogic,it is my character’.
\nIt is in the nature of scorpion to sting,pray for scorpion,anoint it
\nwith the most sacred and potent anointed oil,fast and pray for a
\nscorpion not to sting,you will end up being disappointed,because it
\ncannot deny itself of its original nature.
\nWhen I began to ruminate about the dwindling economic situation in
\nBauchi State since Barr. M.A Abubakar took over the mantel of
\nleadership in the state. The ancient fable about turtle and scorpion
\nunnatural partnership comes to mind. Like the scorpion,on April 11th
\n2015,to be precisely Barr. M.A Abubakar hop on the back of Bauchi
\nstate electorates to became the chief Executive officer of the state.
\nIt is\u00a0 a notorious fact that when Governor M.A\u00a0 Abubakar took oath of
\noffice,he promised the good\u00a0 people of Bauchi state fish and bread. He
\npromised to take them to the promise land flowing\u00a0 with milk and
\nhoney. But today he is rather given the people scorpions and snakes
\ninstead. He is busy looting the state resources shamelessly. Recently
\na group of patriotic citizens under the umbrella of “Concerned
\nCitizens of Bauchi state “wrote an open letter to Bauchi state\u00a0 House
\nof Assembly which was published in the\u00a0 Daily trust and other medium
\n,informing and alerting the shamelessly and toothless Bauchi
\nlawmakers who are suppose to be organ that have the power to checkmate
\nthe excesses of the state government under the leadership of Governor
\nM.A Abubakar,but instead they suddenly gone cold and have turned their
\nback over the brazen corruption and lack of good governance going on
\nin the state.
\nIn the letter,the group called the attention of the lawmakers\u00a0 as
\nmatter of urgency investigate the Governor on the following issues;
\n1.That Governor M.A Abubakar took a N4 Billion Naira loan from UBA for
\nthe purpose of addressing financial obligation confronting the state
\nwith the approval of both Executive Council of state and Members of
\nthe State House of Assembly,even when it is an incontestable fact that
\nthe state Executive Council of Bauchi state has not been constituted
\ntill date.
\n2. That why should the Governor’s son (Abubakar Sadiq) will collect
\nestacode as well as traveling allowances,of which he is not an
\nofficial of the government.
\n3. That Governor should disclose to the general public how much is in
\nthe hidden\u00a0 secret accounts of the civil servants.
\n4. That apart from salaries paid to the 20 local government
\nworkers,what\u00a0 has the governor done with over 17,billion funds accrued
\nto the local\u00a0 government areas,from May till date. When there had not
\nbeen any infrastructural projects undertaken in the local government
\nareas.
\n5. That the Governor approved N3 millions naira imprest for his wife
\nthrough ministry of women affairs from June till date when the wife of
\nthe Governor,must have collected N21 million as imprest.While she is
\nnot the official of the ministry.
\n6. That the Governor award N6 billion Naira road contracts without
\nState Executive Council in place.
\n7. That the Governor should give a\u00a0 vivid detail and account of how
\nthe bailout fund of N8.6 Billion Naira was expanded.
