Barrister Abdullahi Awwal Muhammad,immediate past Chairman of Muslim
\nLawyers Association, has asked James Faleke, running mate to late Prince
\nAbubakar Audu, the All Progressive Congress, APC, Governorship Candidate
\nto present himself for swearing-in in January 2016 as the governor-elect.<\/p>\n
Faleke who filed the suit yesterday at the Tribunal in company of late
\nPrince Audu\u2019s son, Mohammed Abubakar Audu and other supporters, said he
\nwas there to reclaim the Audu\/Faleke ticket.<\/p>\n
Faleke said he dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission
\n(INEC) before the tribunal to challenge its decision to declare the
\nelection inconclusive, maintaining that the election by all standards was
\nconcluded and won by the APC on Audu\/Faleke ticket.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m here to approach the tribunal in line with the Constitution of the
\nFederal Republic of Nigeria to ensure an interpretation is given to what
\nhappened on November 21. We are here to ensure we get our victory back. It
\nis my right to do it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Speaking to pointblanknews.com in Abuja, Muhammad, who was the immediate
\npast Chairman of Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria, FCT Chapter, said
\nFaleke is the \u201cauthentic\u201d governor- elect of Kogi State, having garnered
\nvotes together with late Prince Audu.<\/p>\n
The said the APC made \u201ca big mistake\u201d to have replaced late Prince Audu
\nwith Yahya Bello, instead of Faleke.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf Faleke is patient he will win at the tribunal against Yahya Bello,
\nbecause he has a good case.\u00a0 The only thing that will not make him
\n(Faleke) the governor if he did make a mistake of not attending the
\nswearing-in ceremony as the governor-elect or if he writes personally that
\nhe is no more interested,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
On the seven-day ultimatum issued to Faleke by the Lagos State chapter of
\nthe Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to declare his current political
\nstandpoint, Muhammad said only the people of the Ikeja Federal
\nConstituency have the constitutional power to recall Faleke from the House
\nof Representatives, and not the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
\n\u201cPDP has not such power to recall an elected officer. It is just making
\nnoise,\u201d Muhammad said.<\/p>\n
It would be recalled that on November 30, the APC replaced late Prince
\nAudu with Yahya Bello, despite plea by Faleke that he should be considered
