Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the yesterday\u2019s
\narrest and detention of the Kogi State Deputy Governor-Elect, Hon
\nJames Abiodun Faleke and Mr Mohammed Audu, son of the late former
\nGovernor of Kogi State and All Progressives Congress (APC)
\ngovernorship candidate, Abubakar Audu, as a confirmation of his
\nprediction that penchant for dictatorship will rise this year with
\nrampant disobedience human rights abuses by the APC government of
\nPresident Mohammadu Buhari.<\/p>\n

The governor said even though Faleke and Audu were released very late
\non Saturday by men of the Department of State Security (DSS),
\nNigerians should by the arrest brace up for a full-blown dictatorship.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Governor Fayose said \u201cit
\nis now clear that Nigerians can no longer hold opinion different from
\nthat of President Buhari and his faction of the APC and this should
\nworry lovers of democracy in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said arresting and humiliating Faleke and Audu by the DSS, just
\nbecause they choose to pursue their rights within the ambit of the law
\nwas a dangerous trend that all Nigerians, irrespective of political
\nparty affiliation must condemn.<\/p>\n

Governor Fayose said; \u201cThey started with Senate President, Bukola
\nSaraki; later, the DSS invaded the Akwa-Ibom State Government House
\nand those who should speak out kept silent because of politics.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe DSS moved against the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col
\nSambo Dasuki, invading his residences in a commando liked manner and
\nwhen he got order from the court for the DSS to vacate his house, the
\norder was ignored. Up till today, Dasuki is still in detention despite
\nthat he was granted bail by the court and he met the bail conditions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen all these happened to Dasuki, many of those who should talk,
\nespecially our so-called human rights activists kept silent because of
\npolitics.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow that it happened to Faleke and Audu, members of President
\nBuhari\u2019s party who are not on the same page with him on the Kogi State
\nelection, should we also keep silent because it is APC affairs?
\nDefinitely no!<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are not going to keep silent because we are not in this to protect
\nthe interest of any political interest. Rather, our concern is the
\nsurvival of democracy, which is obviously being threatened by the
\nforces that have turned the DSS to their agent of political
\nvictimisation.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost importantly, Nigerians should know that tyranny does not know
\npolitical boundary. The moment tyranny becomes full-blown, it does not
\neven know its own family members. The only concern is its selfish
\ninterests and anyone that is against those interests must be pull down
\nor whip to line.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
