President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday in Abu Dhabi urged telecommunication<\/p>\n
companies operating in Nigeria not to place their desire for huge profits<\/p>\n
above the security needs of the country.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Speaking at an interactive forum with members of the Nigerian Community in<\/p>\n
Abu Dhabi, President Buhari said\u00a0 that the war against terrorism can only<\/p>\n
be won with collective effort and a commitment by all stakeholders to work<\/p>\n
in unison to halt the scourge.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Remarking that\u00a0 the registration of all mobile phone users without<\/p>\n
exception will help the security agencies to pre-empt terrorist attacks,<\/p>\n
the President said that telecommunication companies operating in Nigeria<\/p>\n
must adhere to the rules and guidelines of the Nigerian Communications<\/p>\n
Commission in this regard.<\/p>\n

President Buhari assured the gathering that his administration will deal<\/p>\n
decisively with the seeming resurgence of oil theft, vandalisation of<\/p>\n
pipelines and insecurity in the Niger Delta.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Declaring that the Nigerian Armed Forces had already dealt “deadly blows”<\/p>\n
on Boko Haram, the President said that the activities of oil thieves and<\/p>\n
vandals will soon be brought to an end.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“The oil thieves and abductors are a less problematic target. We will<\/p>\n
re-organise and deal with them,” he said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u00fdPresident Buhari assured Nigerians at the interactive session that his<\/p>\n
administration’s war against corruption will continue to be vigorously<\/p>\n
pursued.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The President pledged that more persons who have abused the public trust<\/p>\n
will be exposed and brought to justice soon, adding that his government<\/p>\n
was committed to re-establishing former standards of accountability and<\/p>\n
probity in the management of public funds which were jettisoned under past<\/p>\n
administrations.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u00fdThe President appealed for more patience and understanding from Nigerians<\/p>\n
as his administration takes steps to safeguard the economy from the shock<\/p>\n
of falling oil prices.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“In the face of our new economic reality of dwindling oil prices, there<\/p>\n
are a number of things we can really do without\u00a0 to preserve our economy.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“We must develop the capacity to feed ourselves and we should be spending<\/p>\n
our resources on real development projects, not luxuries,” he said.<\/p>\n
