The Media Office of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of the All
\nProgressives Congress, APC, has decried what it described as foul media
\nreports against the former governor of Lagos State.<\/p>\n

A statement signed by Tinubu\u2019s media aide, Sunday<\/span><\/span> Dare, Tuesday<\/span><\/span>, strongly
\ncondemned the orchestrated media attacks on the APC leader, saying the
\nattacks were designed to drive a wedge between Tinubu and President
\nMuhammadu Buhari.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, \u201cIn the last 6 weeks, the Tinubu Media Office
\nhas monitored the stream of false, distorted media accounts written
\nagainst Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We have learned that there is a concerted,
\nwillful campaign tagged, \u2018Destroy the reputation of Tinubu and his
\nrelationship with Buhari\u2019. As part of this ugly plot to cultivate the
\nworst of lies against the national leader of the APC, several blogs and
\nonline sites recruited to launch this smear campaign have manufactured
\nstories to advance this sinister plan to taint the public mind with gross
\nlies disguised as news reports and interviews.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis campaign, now in full and desperate swing, involves a blatant
\nviolation of the minimal standards of journalism and social media ethics.
\nWithout conscience or any hint of a sense of morality, they lie in the
\nmost outlandish fashion by attributing statements to Tinubu which he never
\nmade. They concoct interviews that were never given and assert positions
\nthat he would never hold or endorse. They go about putting words in his
\nmouth, contending that he was in places that he never was, and reporting
\nfalsely his movements and meetings.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey recently have trespassed another boundary of proper behavior by
\nengaging in cloning letterhead of the Tinubu Media Office and issue their
\nlibelous statements under such letterhead. This filth is now being
\ncirculated in the social media in a malicious attempt to tie him to the
\nDasuki money. The writers of these lies willfully seek to mislead, confuse
\nand deceive the public.\u201d<\/p>\n

It further stated that \u201cSuch fallacious headlines such as \u2018Reasons Why I
\ncollected N9 million-Tinubu\u2019 and \u2018I will not return N9 million \u2013Tinubu\u2019;
\n\u2018I am afraid PDP will stop Buhari in 2009 \u2013 Tinubu\u2019, are being paraded.
\nTry as hard as they can, the creators of these false tales and misleading
\nheadlines will fail miserably. Their stories cannot stand up to the
\nslightest scrutiny. They are patently false and we condemn in the
\nstrongest terms those involved in this anti-Tinubu racket. While these
\nfellows may think themselves cunning, they might have outwitted their very
\nselves. In writing these stories, they have committed clear libel. In
\nabusing the media office letterhead and name, their misrepresentations
\namount to forgery. They laugh now but walk on thin ice. Soon, that ice
\nwill break and they shall have nothing but the weight of their wrongdoing
\nto blame for their predicament that will soon come.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe individuals behind the plot are mostly scared PDP elements frightened
\nby the Buhari Anti-corruption campaign. They direct these falsehoods at
\nTinubu in the futile mission of trying to drive a wedge between the
\npresident and Tinubu, to disrupt the progress being made against
\ncorruption and to destabilize the APC. But their PDP is already something
\nby-gone, buried under the mass of its corruption and wrongdoing. They
\nfight for a cause that has no cause. They are mercenaries of all the ills
\nand defects that the people want excised from our body politic. Thus, we
\nmust do the people a public service.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter identifying the bloggers and paid hatchet writers perpetrating
\nthese wrongs, the Tinubu Media Office is taking the step to alert the
\npublic to beware and be wary of hatchet writers, false prophets and paid
\nbloggers. The Tinubu Media Office has the names and online sites recruited
\nfor this campaign and will not hesitate to make them know if they do not
\ndesist from their negative mission.\u201d<\/p>\n
