Top chieftains of Social Democratic Party (SDP) from Osun and Oyo states<\/p>\n
met on Thursday to strategise on how to wrestle power in the two
\nSouth-West states from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the
\nforthcoming elections<\/p>\n
The meeting which took place at the state SDP Secretariat, along
\nOsogbo-Ikirun road in Osogbo had in attendance the Osun state Chairman of
\nthe party, Chief Ademola Ishola and members of his Executive Committee
\nwhile Oyo delegate was led by the party\u2019s governorship candidate in the
\nlast general election, Mr. Seyi Makinke.<\/p>\n
Makinde who had earlier been conferred with 2015 Merit Award by the Zone
\nIX of the Nigerian Police Command presented by Assistant Inspector-General
\nof Police, Kalafite Adeyemi explained during the parley that the only
\nparty that can bring \u201ctrue change\u201d to Nigeria is the SDP, while urging
\nmembers of the SDP to work together towards achieving this goal.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith what I have seen in SDP in Osun state, I know we are prepared to
\nchase away APC and Rauf Aregbesola out of Osun in 2018 and we are ready to
\nbring a party with a clear vision and mission to govern this state with
\nall sense of responsibility\u201d, he stated.<\/p>\n
He stated that every positive thing would be done to ensure that SDP takes
\nover the entire South-West from the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party
\n(PDP), adding that the party \u201cis the only better alternative for the
\nYoruba nation and Nigeria at large\u201d.<\/p>\n
Makinde praised members of the state SDP for their continuous mobilization
\nof more members into the party with assurances that both the Osun and Oyo
\nstates members of the party would join forces in the 2018 governorship
\nelection in Osun.<\/p>\n
Also speaking at the meeting, Ishola reiterated the commitment of his
\nparty members towards their efforts to win more people across the 30 local
\ngovernments of the state to its fold, saying this reflected in the just
\nconcluded of its state congress.<\/p>\n
\u201cI also wish to say this that APC has no reason to remain in power in Osun
\nbecause our people are already disillusioned with the way Ogbeni
\nAregbesola is conducting the affairs of this state. Our education system
\nhas collapsed, the economy is down and we are being fed with lies every
\nday by the people in government.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe same thing is going on in Oyo, Governor Ajimobi has not done better
\nand Governor Ibikunle Amosu has not done enough. We need to work together
\nto take over Ondo in 2017, Ekiti and Osun in 2018 and Oyo, Lagos and Ogun
\nin 2019. We can achieve this\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have called for Aregbesola\u2019s resignation and we still stand by that
\nbecause he has failed in all aspect of governance\u201d, he stated.<\/p>\n
Delegates from the two states agreed that the meeting should be continuous
