Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Olu Falae, has<\/p>\n
predicted \u201cthings would soon fall apart\u201d for the members of the ruling All
\nProgressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n
Mr. Falae, who is the national chairman of the Social Democratic Party
\n(SDP), mocked the APC for branding itself a \u201cmega party,\u201d but said the
\nparty was likely to totally collapse soon.<\/p>\n
Mr. Falae spoke at the SDP\u2019s secretariat in Akure, capital of Ondo State,
\nwhile welcoming Olu Agunloye, a former member of the Peoples Democratic
\nParty and close ally of Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, who
\ndefected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).<\/p>\n
Mr. Agunloye, a former Minister of Power and Steel as well as erstwhile
\nMinister for Defense, had quietly defected from the PDP to the SDP last
\nweekend in Akure.<\/p>\n
Mr. Falae was recently named as a recipient of N100 million from Tony
\nAnenih, a former chairman of the PDP\u2019s board of trustee. Nigerian
\ninvestigators have suggested that the largesse was diverted from $2.1
\nbillion budgeted for the procurement of weapons to enable the Nigerian
\nmilitary to better combat Islamist insurgents operating in Nigeria\u2019s
\nnortheast. Former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, has been
\narraigned in court for disbursing the defense funds to numerous political,
\nmedia and business interest for purely partisan use.<\/p>\n
Mr. Falae, who has denied receiving any funds from Mr. Dasuki, described
\nthe various political parties that came together to form the APC as
\nopportunists who wish to share Nigeria\u2019s collective resources.<\/p>\n
He said the APC was made up of \u201cuncommitted individuals,\u201d adding that
\ntheir major aim was to share money. \u201cThey will disintegrate very soon,\u201d he
\nadded.<\/p>\n
Mr. Falae added: \u201cThey have no plan for this country and they are not
\nprogressive-minded people. And that’s why they have nothing to show in the
\nlast seven months that they have assumed power and leadership control of
\nthe country.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr. Falae had expressed anger that his name was linked to the still
\nunfolding scandal around Mr. Dasuki, insisting that the funds he received
\nfrom Mr. Anenih were meant to empower his political party to campaign for
\nthe reelection of President Goodluck Jonathan. The SDP had struck an
\nagreement to back Mr. Jonathan, who however lost to Mr. Muhammadu Buhari
\nof the APC.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll Progressives Party (APC) will soon collapse because they are made
\nup of uncommitted party members who only believe in sharing the
\nmoney,\u201d Mr. Falae said.<\/p>\n
After being welcomed into the SDP, Mr. Agunloye promised to ensure that
\nthe party emerged victorious in governorship elections coming up later
