\nThe event concerning the Nigeria 2016 budget and its discrepancies has<\/p>\n
crowded the internet space in the past few weeks. Nigerians both locally
\nand in diaspora have been throwing in questions especially aiming at this
\nPresident Buhari\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Administration on why such shocking revelations have
\nbeen made concerning the Nigeria 2016 Budget.
\nWith the way and manner this administration has preached Change, the talks
\non fighting corruption and leading a corrupt free administration, one can
\nonly stop to wonder why then do we have such embarrassing revelations in
\nthe Nigeria 2016 Budget which clearly depicts hidden acts of corruption and
\ndeceit.<\/p>\n
How such an incompetent document passed the muster of presidential scrutiny
\nand snaked its way to the National Assembly, remains befuddling.
\nHow can this administration be expected to be taken very seriously, when
\nits budget for the Ministry of Defence is greater by far than the budget of
\nthe Ministry of Science and Technology given Nigeria\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s current
\ncircumstance? One particular example being that the MOD\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s budget for
\nprocuring sporting equipment for the Army, exceeds the budget for the same
\nitem for the entire federal ministry of Sports and Youth development, the
\nDefence ministry depends on importation of Arms and military equipment, now
\nwe ask: where is the defence money going?
\nBefore now, they had been speculations that the Executive had a hand in the
\nSenate President\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s trial but now with the discoveries made by the National
\nAssembly and the verdict of the Supreme Court concerning Saraki\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s trial,
\nStella Oduah and Andy Uba\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s court cases, one can then say the National
\nAssembly is being blackmailed by the Executive to go easy with the Nigeria
\n2016 Budget; thereby hindering the discovery of other discrepancies in the
\nBudget.<\/p>\n
Is the Executive trying to scare other Legislatures by dragging their
\ncolleagues to court? How long can the fate of Nigerians continue to be
\ntoyed with?
\nGoing down memory lane, we can recall that this administration never
\nsupported the present Speaker of House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara and
\nthe Senate President, Bukola Saraki. Could it be possible that this
\ndiscoveries made in the 2016 Budget wouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have been if they, the
\nExecutive had gotten their way in positioning people of their choice in
\nthose key positions?
\nThe National Assembly needs to be commended for spotting and bringing to
\nlight the gross errors of Nigeria\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s 2016 Federal budget. And the Executives
\nshould kindly let the Legislature do its work, if not for anything, for the
\nsake and love of country.<\/p>\n
