Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has hailed the emergence of<\/p>\n
former governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the
\nNational Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), calling on
\nall members and supporters of the party to support the new chairman.<\/p>\n
Governor Fayose, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Public
\nCommunications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said the choice of
\nSenator Ali Modu Sheriff was in the best interest of the party.<\/p>\n
He said; “I have always defended the party even at the risk of my
\nposition, personal security and comfort. I have always stood for the
\ntruth, and I cannot now be part of any decision that won\u2019t represent
\nthe party well.<\/p>\n
“I supported the processes that led to the emergence of Ali Modu
\nSheriff because I believe in him and for those who may be aggrieved
\nfor one reason or the other; I plead that they should sheath their
\nsword in the overall interest of our party.<\/p>\n
“Most importantly, the reality that we must all face is that we are in
\na peculiar situation and such a situation deserves a peculiar
\napproach.<\/p>\n
“What the party leaders have done therefore is to tackle the present
\nsituation in our party with the most appropriate solution and we must
\nall stand by Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, who is our present solution to
\nour present situation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking further, Governor Fayose said; \u201cthe All Progressives Congress
\n(APC) knows Senator Ali Modu Sheriff’s capacity in terms of political
\nnetwork, being a three term senator and two term governor, and must be
\nafraid that with such a person as the PDP Chairman, their regime of
\nlies will be over soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
