The All Progressive Congress, APC, has described newly appointed National<\/p>\n
Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ali Modu Sheriff as a big
\njoke over his comment that the PDP will take over power in 2019.
\nA statement by Mai Mala Buni, National Secretary of APC, drew Sheriff\u2019s
\nattention to the 16th century English language proverb and nursery rhyme
\nwhich says \u201cIf wishes were horses, beggars would ride\u201d, after Sheriff
\nboasted in Umuahia, the Abia State capital that the ailing PDP which lost
\npower in 2015 will regain control of the federal government in 2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cAli Modu Sheriff was also quoted saying the PDP would soon come out with
\nits \u2018master plan\u2019 to regain power. The APC is reluctant to join issues
\nwith Ali Modu Sheriff\u2019s idle 2019 postulations and would rather join
\nissues that will bring about all-inclusive development in the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, the APC and indeed Nigerians seriously hope the touted \u2018master
\nplan\u2019 includes how the PDP and its cronies will return public funds stolen
\nunder the PDP\u2019s watch for 16 years.\u201d<\/p>\n
APC further stated that \u201cNigerians are aware that the current economic
\nhardship and institutional rot was caused by the PDP\u2019s 16-year misrule and
\npillage. President Muhammadu Buhari has been working assiduously to
\ncorrect the PDP\u2019s years of damage and bring about people-centric
\ngovernance. It is baffling how the PDP expects Nigerians to abandon APC\u2019s
\nsmooth sailing ship for a sinking and rudderless PDP ship, come 2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe 2015 elections has been won and lost. The priority of the present APC
\nadministration is to deliver on election promises made by the party to
\nNigerians who long-desired change of political leadership at the federal
\nlevel and in many states.<\/p>\n
\u201cHappily, Nigerians can look back, with relief and attest that since the
\nAPC-led administration took over governance, Nigeria is back on the right
\ntrack \u2013 economically and security-wise \u2013 and has taken its right of place
\namong the comity of progressive nations.\u201d<\/p>\n
APC said the widely-acclaimed job creation, social welfare and inclusion
\nprogrammes proposed by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration has
\nbeen well received.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe full implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) by the
\npresent administration has greatly plugged revenue leakages. The
\npresidential directive to the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency
\n(PPPRA) to adjust its pricing template to reflect competitive and market
\ndriven components has\u00fd resulted in a more efficient and realistic pricing
\nsystem for petroleum products and also brought about constant availability
\nof fuel nationwide.<\/p>\n
\u201cNigeria is winning the war against insurgency. In spite of desperate
\nattempts to discredit ongoing anti-corruption efforts, the war against
\ngraft is being won. In reiterating the recent submission of the APC
\nNational Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, for the first time in many
\nyears, Nigeria now has a solidly positive international image and the
\npresident is trying to cash in on this image to help rescue our nation
\nfrom the throes, the economic morass which the PDP 16-year misrule has
\nplunged Nigeria,\u201d the party said.<\/p>\n
It added that \u201cthese are clear indicators showing that the APC and the
\nPresident Muhammadu Buhari administration is on the right track to
\ndelivering on its Change Agenda. With the support and prayers of
\nNigerians, the APC assures that Nigeria will reach its full potential
