Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has told the Federal\u00a0Government to perish the thought of imposing the Treasury Single\u00a0Account (TSA) on States.<\/p>\n
According to him, the Federal\u00a0Government was not in the position to counsel or force any State to\u00a0accept policies that are not working for those that introduced them.<\/p>\n
Governor Fayose said in a press statement on Friday \u201cthe Federal Government should rather face the dwindling\u00a0economy of the country instead of going about grandstanding on a TSA\u00a0policy that was already tainted with fraud.<\/p>\n
Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, had\u00a0called on States to accept the TSA.<\/p>\n
Reacting, Governor Fayose likened the Federal Government to a blind\u00a0man trying to lead people who can see clearly, saying; \u201cThe same\u00a0minister whose office could not prepare a simple budget should not\u00a0assault the sensibilities of Nigerians by telling States to accept a\u00a0TSA policy that is characterised with fraud.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said up till now, the Federal Government was yet to explain the\u00a0alleged N25 billion naira scam allegedly perpetrated in the name of\u00a0the TSA, adding that \u201cthe TSA policy was aimed at enriching some\u00a0individuals for doing virtually nothing and that can be seen in the\u00a0discovery of N25 billion that was said to have accrued to just a\u00a0single company in one month!\u201d<\/p>\n
The governor, who maintained that President Mohammadu Buhari lacked\u00a0the required mental capacity to rescue the country from the present\u00a0economic problems, added that it was an insult for a federal\u00a0government that appeared to be clueless to be preaching its unworkable\u00a0policies to other tiers of government.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe rate at which dollar is rising, we will soon begin to talk about\u00a0one Us Dollar being equivalent to N500. As at today, it is already\u00a0more than N400 to $1.<\/p>\n
\u201cWorkers are being sacked on a daily basis while prices of goods are\u00a0rising astronomically and Foreign Reserve is declining on daily basis.\u00a0Yet, all that this All Progressives Congress (APC) and President\u00a0Buhari\u2019s Federal Government can be preaching is for States to accept\u00a0TSA as if that will stem the tide of the rising hunger and sufferings\u00a0that is ravaging Nigeria.<\/p>\n
\u201cMethinks these people should just face the reality of their failing\u00a0government and seek for help from those who know better than them\u00a0instead of carrying with this attitude of \u2018we know it all\u2019 so that the\u00a0economy of this country will not collapse totally.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
