President Muhammadu Buhari said Thursday in Mecca that the Federal<\/p>\n
Government will welcome support from the Organisation of Islamic
\nCooperation (OIC) for its ongoing efforts to rehabilitate parts of the
\ncountry affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a meeting with the Secretary General of the OIC, Mr Iyad Ameen
\nMadani, President Buhari urged the organisation\u00a0 to send a fact-finding
\nmission to the ravaged states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states to see the
\ndamage done by terrorists.<\/p>\n
The President told Mr. Madani\u00a0 that the fact-finding visit will help the
\nOIC to determine the scope of assistance it\u00a0 can offer to Nigeria for the
\nrehabilitation and resettlement of internally displaced persons.<\/p>\n
President Buhari also challenged the OIC to act urgently in support of the
\nrestoration of peace, law and order to Libya which, he said, had been
\nbreeding the terrorists causing mayhem in West and Central African
\ncountries following the fall of the Ghaddafi regime.<\/p>\n
President Buhari agreed with Mr. Madani that Islam has been wilfully
\nmisrepresented by terrorists.<\/p>\n
The President said that it is only by educating people properly about
\nIslam that terrorists will be deprived of legitimacy and a basis for the
\nrecruitment of followers.<\/p>\n
He therefore urged the OIC to assist the Federal Government\u00a0 in bringing
