<\/p>\n
President Muhammadu Buhari has assured the business community in Qatar<\/p>\n
that Nigeria would remove any impediment that can hinder investment in the<\/p>\n
country.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Speaking at a meeting with senior executives of Qatar Chamber of Commerce<\/p>\n
and some private businessmen in Doha on Sunday, the President said<\/p>\n
security is essential to prosperity and development.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“Nobody invests without first knowing how secure a country is. That is<\/p>\n
why we have placed high premium on securing the country, because you<\/p>\n
cannot effectively manage a country you have not secured.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“My party campaigned on three main planks: security, employment<\/p>\n
generation and anti-corruption.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“We campaigned on zero corruption, promising that we would run an<\/p>\n
accountable government and we are keeping our promises.”<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Referring to the crash in the international crude oil prices and its<\/p>\n
effect on the Nigerian economy, President Buhari informed his hosts that<\/p>\n
Nigeria is blessed with vast arable land for agriculture, and rich deposit<\/p>\n
of solid minerals, which the businessmen can invest in, and reap rich<\/p>\n
returns in a short while.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“Agriculture and solid minerals will mobilize youths for gainful<\/p>\n
employment. We have the capacity not to need to import food at all.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“But we need to also tackle infrastructure deficit in power,<\/p>\n
transportation, rail, road, and in other areas. We will put together an<\/p>\n
articulated plan, which would be discussed with you shortly, so that you<\/p>\n
can make investment decisions.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“All impediments like delayed processing of permits, multiple taxation,<\/p>\n
and corrupt practices, would be removed,\u2019\u2019 the President said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Speaking on behalf of the Qatari businessmen, Muhammed Bin Ahmed Bin Towar<\/p>\n
Al Kuwari, Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry said<\/p>\n
they would be interested in the finance, oil and gas, telecommunications,<\/p>\n
tourism, agriculture and food processing sectors, among others.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“All eyes are on Africa in the next decade. Africa is the next place for<\/p>\n
growth, the rest of the world is looking towards the continent, and<\/p>\n
Nigeria is an important part of that continent,” he said.<\/p>\n
