An Osun State based Civil Society Organization(CSO), the Civil<\/p>\n
Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State(CSCEOS) has
\nurged the Federal Government and both local and international financial
\ninstitutions to stop giving loan to the State government under Mr. Rauf
\nAdesoji Aregbesola.<\/p>\n
The group said that all loans being accrued to the State in the last
\nthree to four years were mismanaged and misappropriated by Governor
\nAregbesola leading to an untold hardship on the people of the State today.<\/p>\n
It however declared that Mr. Rauf Aregbesola led present
\nadministration in the State, had mortgaged the future of the State,
\nincluding generation yet unborn with the series of loans being
\nobtained on behalf of the State with nothing to show for it, insisting
\nthat Aregbesola had embarked on policies and programmes somersaulting
\nwhich had no bearing on the lives of the people since inception of his
\nadministration in November 2010.<\/p>\n
The group equally condemned Mr. Aregbesola over the ongoing industrial
\naction embarked upon by the medical doctors under the aegis of
\nAssociation of Resident Doctors (ARD) and Osun State Association of
\nMedical and Dental Officers (OSAMDO) with their mother body, the
\nNigeria Medical Association (NMA) for over six months now, which has
\nput the State health sector in jeopardy and comatose and the State
\ngovernment had not shown any concern to the ugly development ,rather
\nthan incessant purported mouth mass sack of the affected Medical
\nDoctors which was not acceptable to the people of the State.<\/p>\n
Similarly, the group also submitted a Protest Letter dated 2nd of
\nMarch,2016 to the State House of Assembly through its Speaker,
\nHonourable Najeem Salaam on the unpleasant state of affairs of the
\nState under Aregbesola\u2019s watch, where it alleged the members of the
\nAssembly for showing unconcern attitude towards the plight and welfare
\nof the people of the State they were claiming to be represented in
\nthe law making arm of the State government.<\/p>\n
According to the Letter: \u201cSir, it is no news that doctors in the
\nservice of Osun state has been on strike since September 2015, which
\nmakes it 7 months now, due to the inability of government to fulfill
\nher obligations towards them. The implication of this situation is
\nbetter imagined, and we believe your office should not find it
\ndifficult confronting this issue headlong so as to bring a great
\nrelief to the helpless, suffering and already impoverished people of
\nthe state. We have severally refrained ourselves from concluding that
\nthe house is in connivance with the executive arm of government to
\nmaintain a criminal silence on this issue, but when we consider the
\nbuoyancy of an average Nigerian politician, which makes it possible
\nfor him to access healthcare anywhere in the world at whatever cost,
\nwe might insinuate that you have kept quiet on this serious matter
\nbecause you might not be directly affected.<\/p>\n
\u201cFurthermore, the attempt of the government to raise the IGR of the
\nstate, which has brought about a regime of unrealistic tax impositions
\non the citizenry, is sending many people away from the State, while
\nothers are developing serious health problems arising from fear,
\nunfortunately with no access to healthcare due to the doctor\u2019s
\nstrike\u201d.<\/p>\n
Addressing pressmen in Osogbo, the State Capital on Wednesday during
\nthe 2nd Emancipation rally organized by the Civil Societies Coalition
\nfor the Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEOS) in support of striking
\nMedical Doctors, retirees and entire workforce in the State, the
\nleader of the group, Comrade Adeniyi, Alimi Sulaiman berated
\nAregbesola over the Medical doctors plight which has turned the health
\nsector of the into shamble, urged the governor to go and bring back
\nall the allocations being accrued to the State from the Federation
\nAccount which was siphoned into private purse and also, the loan
\nbeing collected on behalf of the State that put the flourishing State
\ninto perpetual debt slavery.<\/p>\n
Rights activist implored Governor Aregbesola to answer the requests of
\nthe striking doctors without further delaying so as to return the
\nhealth sector of the State back to normalcy in the interest of masses
\nof the State, noting that the planned agenda of the Aregbesola
\nled-government to replace the Medical Doctors with Herbalists and
\nWitch crafts was unacceptable and totally rejected by the good people
\nof the State.<\/p>\n
The protesters comprises of human rights activists, workers, retirees,
\nartisans, market men and women, students among others; passed through
\nthe heart of Osogbo, the State capital such as; Oja-Oba, Station road,
\nIdi-Seke, Orita-Gbaemu, Fagbewesa and Ola-Iya junction with solidarity
\nsongs, as well as carried Placards with the inscriptions; \u201cstop
\nthreatening Osun Doctors with incessant purported mouth sack\u201d,
\n\u201cAregbesola has destroyed health sector of Osun State beyond
\nredemption\u201d, \u201cPresident Muhammadu Buhari: Come and Save Osun People
\nfrom the hands of Rauf Aregbesola and his cohorts\u201d, \u201cCSCEOS backs Osun
\nStriking Doctors\u201d, \u201cAregbesola: Pay Osun State Doctors their
\nentitlements\u201d, \u201cAregbesola: Osun People reject commercialization of
\neducation\u201d, \u201cAregbesola: Osun workers reject half salaries\u201d and so
\non.<\/p>\n
Sulaiman therefore called on Aregbesola to stop anti-workers agenda
\nsuch as; payment of half salaries, retrenchment of workers, request
\nfor BVN and Statement of Account, among others, urging Aregbesola to
\ncommence the full payment of workers\u2019 salaries and retirees pension
\ndues as well as payment of gratuities of the State retirees from 2010
\ntill date.<\/p>\n
He said, the planned commercialization of the education across the
\nState by the present administration was totally rejected and sees the
\ndevelopment as anti-masses, undemocratic ,ungodly, evil and uncalled,
\nadvising the Veteran Labour Leader and Chairman,Osun State Committee
\nof Government and Labour on Allocation Accrued to the State from
\nFederation Account and Internally Generated Revenue(IGR) , Comrade
\nHassan Sunmonu, to resign from the committee in order to save his hard
\nearned reputation from being tarnished by Aregbesola\u2019s administration
\n, alleging that the Committee was where the future of the good people,
\nincluding workers and retirees of the State were being mortgaged.<\/p>\n
He therefore called on the anti-graft bodies, the Economic and
\nFinancial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices
\nand other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to commence immediate
\nprosecution of Governor Rauf Aregbesola over alleged mismanagement of
