The Nigerian Police has vowed to investigate and prosecute all those
\ninvolved in the abduction of Ese Oruru, the 13yr old who was abducted and
\ntaken to Kano for marriage.<\/p>\n
Yinusa, who abducted Ese in August 2015, is currently being interrogated
\nby the police and would be prosecuted alongside all those who played any
\nrole in the abduction saga, according to the Police.<\/p>\n
The Emir of Kano, Mohammadu Sanusi Lamido had been linked to the abduction
\nof Ese after parents of the girl had arrived Kano to seek for her release
\nbut were told their daughter is being at the Emir\u2019s palace where she had
\nbeen converted to Islam and married off to Yinusa.<\/p>\n
Charles Oruru, father of the abducted girl said the Emir of Kano and the
\nPolice are all guilty of not effecting the immediate release of Ese after
\nthe case was reported to them<\/p>\n
Oruru said, \u201cThe Emir did not play any role there. All security agencies
\nin Yenagoa and in Abuja were also part of those who refused to help.
\n\u201cThat is the truth because when we got to Kano, we were told that the Emir
\nhad written a letter that the girl should be released on August 26, 2015,
\nand this was not done.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey wanted to keep the girl in Kano, but the pressure was everywhere
\nafter the whole world had heard about the matter, so he knew that if he
\ndidn\u2019t release the girl, it would lead to a big problem.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Police also confirmed that it has started an in-house investigation
\ninto the role played by the Police in Bayelsa and Kano after the abduction
\nof Ese was reported to them.<\/p>\n
Spokesperson of the Nigerian Police, Bisi Kolawole who dropped the hint in
\na short speech to journalists said the 13yr old girl is currently with the
\nGender and Child Care Protection Unit of the Police.<\/p>\n
Kolawole said Ese is undergoing medical and psychological examination
\nbefore she is reunited with her parents who arrived Abuja last night.<\/p>\n
The Spokesperson of the Nigerian Police, Bisi Kolawole said the abducted
\n13 year old, Ese Oruru, is currently in police custody and in the Gender
\nand Child Care Protection Unit.<\/p>\n
She said the abductor, Yunusa Dahiru, who is in police custody, and all
\nother actors in the abduction will be brought to justice.
\nEse\u2019s mother, Rose Oruru, also at the briefing expressed her joy at the
\nreunion with her daughter.<\/p>\n
Both Ese and her mother, are billed to meet with the Inspector General of
\nPolice, Solomon Arase, today.<\/p>\n
They are billed for a 5PM flight from Abuja to Port Harcourt, en route
\nBayelsa State.<\/p>\n
The Force PRO had yesterday told anxious journalists, who waited for
\nseveral hours at the Police Headquarters in Abuja, that the inability of
\nEse\u2019s parents to arrive on time led to the postponement of the exercise.
\nEse was allegedly abducted eight months ago and moved to Kano for forced
\nmarriage.<\/p>\n
She was freed on Monday night, following a directive by the Inspector
\nGeneral of Police, Solomon Arase, to the Commissioner of Police in Kano
\nState, Mohammed Katsina.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Emir Sanusi had on Monday refuted claims that he sheltered
\nEse, saying he had ordered that the girl be taken to her parents since
\n2015.
\nThe Emir, while speaking at a press conference, in his palace said he got
\nto know that the girl was still in Kano when journalists from the BBC
\ncalled him.<\/p>\n
Sanusi had said, \u201cSince the time we ordered that the girl be taken to her
\nparents in Bayelsa through AIG Zone 1, we didn\u2019t hear anything about her;
\njust for us to now start hearing all kinds of stories that we are keeping
