The Ekiti State House of Assembly has summoned the immediate-past<\/p>\n
Governor of the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, to appear before it on
\nTuesday, March 22, to explain how the N852 million Universal Basic
\nEducation Commission (UBEC) fund was expended by his administration.<\/p>\n
Also, the House condemned the invasion of the Assembly complex by the
\noperatives of Department State Security (DSS) in a gestapo manner to
\narrest four members of the House.<\/p>\n
According to the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon Gboyega
\nAribisogan, the two position were contained in a separate resolutions
\npassed by the House at its plenary on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Members of the House said the diversion of the fund by Dr Fayemi had
\naffected the state as it could not access the UBEC fund for the past
\ntwo years. The Lawmakers threatened to take legal action against the
\nformer Governor and to invite relevant anti-graft agencies to take up
\nthe matter, if he refused to appear before the House on the day.<\/p>\n
The Leader of Government Business Hon Olatunji Akinyele, moved the
\nmotion for the approval of the two resolutions and they were
\nunanimously approved by the lawmakers.<\/p>\n
Members who included Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan, Ekundayo Akinleye Sunday
\nAkinniyi, Dr. Omotosho Samuel, Titilayo Akerele and Olusegun Akinwumi
\ncondemned the invasion of the Assembly complex by DSS operatives and
\ndescribed the action as shameful, barbaric and crude.<\/p>\n
They called on the international community and well-meaning Nigerians
\nto call the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government to
\norder.<\/p>\n
The lawmakers also canvassed for immediate stoppage to the DSS siege
\non Ekiti House of Assembly and the release of the four abducted
\nmembers for the organization to charge them to court.<\/p>\n
While capping up discussions at the plenary, the Speaker of the
\nAssembly, Rt Hon. (Pastor) Kola Oluwawole, said the evil plot of the
\nAPC to truncate the democratically-elected government in Ekiti would
\nfail woefully.<\/p>\n
He said that the members of the House ould never be induced or
\ncoerced to impeach the popularly-elected Governor Ayodele Fayose.<\/p>\n
He noted that the APC spokesman in Ekiti State, Taiwo Olatunbosun, had
\ntaken over as the spokesman of the DSS, confirming the allegation that
\nthe APC and the DSS were \u201cjoined in their evil plan which will
