Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial
\nDistrict, at the national Assembly has stated that Urhobo nation and the
\nNigeria Senate will not tolerate military brutalization of Nigerians,
\nnoting that the military as an institution does not have license to
\nbrutalise citizens.<\/p>\n
Sen. Omo-Agege who visited Ovire\u2018rEku community, Eku, Ethiope East Local
\nGovernment Area, Delta State, following public outcry that greeted the
\nalleged booting and flogging of some protesting women by soldiers attached
\nto Presco Oil, warned that he will not allow the oppression of the Urhobo
\npeople anywhere in the country.<\/p>\n
Condemning the action of the military personnel he stated that, \u201cit is bad
\nenough for soldiers to brutalise our men and even worse for them to
\nbrutalise our women,\u201d adding that the Nigeria Senate will not tolerate
\nmilitary brutality on innocent Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Senator Omo-Agege appealing to the victims of the attack and the community
\nleaders urged them to remain calm as he promised to take the matter up
\nwith the Army authority to ensure that the perpetuators are brought to
\nbook.<\/p>\n
While commiserating with the people for the loss suffered, he assured them
\nthat he will liaise with colleagues from Edo State to resolve the issues,
\nnoting that Deltans and the Edo people are brothers and one people dating
\nback to day in Bendel state.<\/p>\n
According to him, \u201con the issue of military brutalization of our aged
\nmothers, I will take it up with the military authority to seek some
\nexplanation, we must get to the bottom of this matter and I can assure you
\nthat the Senate will not tolerate military brutalising our citizens.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can assure you that heads will roll on this matter; nobody has the
\nlicense to brutalise our citizens under any guise.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to appeal to you to remain calm and don\u2019t take laws into your
\nhands, ensure that the issues do not escalate further than it is now, we
\nwill make sure that the matter is resolved peacefully.\u201d<\/p>\n
Earlier, Chief Momo Orie Spokesman of Ovire\u2019rEku community and Madam
\nFelicia Emoghene narrated their ordeal in the hands of soldiers attached
\nto the Prisco Oil company who they alleged have consistently harassed them
\nwithout provocation over the boundary issue between their community and
\nEdo State.<\/p>\n
Senator Omo-Agege had earlier visited the President-General (PG) of Eku
\nDevelopment Union, Chief Joe Ukueku and his executives to get first hand
\ninformation. Chief Ukueku thanked the Senator for his intervention on the
