Worried by the recent level of touting in Abia State, the State Executive<\/p>\n
Council has placed a ban on all forms of touting in the State.<\/p>\n
To that end, henceforth, any tout arrested in cities in the State and the
\nLocal Government Areas in the State will be arrested.<\/p>\n
The commissioner for Information and Strategy, comrade Bonnie Iwuoha who
\ndisclosed this at the Government House, Umuahia while briefing the press
\non the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting said the
\nadministration of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has zero tolerance to touting.<\/p>\n
He disclosed that the Golden Guinea breweries, Umuahia and the
\ninternational Glass Industry, Aba will soon start operation while the
\nCommissioner for Industry has been asked to visit the Glass Industry to
\nassess the facilities on ground.<\/p>\n
The Commissioner further said that Abia State Government is to embark on
\nmassive sports development as the Commissioner for Sports has been
\ndirected to produce a programme for grassroot sports development in
\nprimary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the State.<\/p>\n
The aim he said is to engage youths meaningfully.<\/p>\n
According to him, the State is to embark on massive renovation of primary
\nand secondary schools through UBEC funds.<\/p>\n
In his remark, the commissioner for Finance, Mr Obinna Oriaku disclosed
\nthat Abia State Government has entered into a tripartite agreement with
\nthe Abia state Government, the Central Bank and Development Partners, the
\ninternational center for Development Affairs for the CBN entrepreneurial
\nDevelopment center for the South East zone.<\/p>\n
He said that the programme is targeted at young school leavers, graduates
\nand retirees who after the entrepreneurial training for 3 months can seek
\nloan to set up their businesses.<\/p>\n
The Finance commissioner who said that the training is free after
\npurchasing the registration form from the CBN with N5,000 said the flag
\noff date of the programme is the 24th of this month.<\/p>\n
