<\/p>\n
President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday in Malabo condemned recent political
\nviolence in Rivers State, saying that the killing of people over political
\ndifferences was primitive, barbaric and unacceptable.<\/p>\n
“We will deal decisively with all sponsors of violence. I have given the
\nsecurity services clear directives in this regard.<\/p>\n
“We will show that violence in any form will no longer be tolerated
\nbefore, during or after elections,” the President said at an interactive
\nmeeting with Nigerians resident in Equatorial Guinea.<\/p>\n
President Buhari said that the Independent National Electoral Commission
\nwill be encouraged to explore the possibility of Nigerians\u00a0 abroad voting
\nin the 2019 general elections.<\/p>\n
Noting that some African countries have\u00a0 started allowing their citizens
\nresident abroad to vote in national elections, the President said that he
\nfully empathised with the desire of Nigerians in the diaspora to vote in
\nnational elections.<\/p>\n
President Buhari\u00a0 pledged that\u00a0 he\u00a0 will therefore do all within his
\npowers to fulfil that desire.<\/p>\n
“I want all Nigerians to know that I respect them and their right to
\nchoose their leaders,” he said<\/p>\n
The President also said that establishing\u00a0 a new national airline was not
\ncurrently on the Federal Government’s list of priorities.<\/p>\n
President Buhari declared that his administration’s main area of focus now
\nwas\u00a0 reducing the level of poverty in the country.<\/p>\n
The President said that developing the infrastructure\u00a0 needed to boost
\nproduction in all sectors of the economy and create more jobs for young
\nNigerians, as well as other actions that will directly improve the living
\nconditions of ordinary Nigerians will continue to be prioritized by his
\nadministration.<\/p>\n
President Buhari\u00a0 was responding to complaints by members of the Nigerian
\ncommunity about the absence of direct flights between Nigeria and
\nEquatorial Guinea.<\/p>\n
The President\u00a0 assured them\u00a0 that his administration’s war against
\ncorruption will remain “fearless, relentless and merciless”.<\/p>\n
“We will be merciless and relentless in pursuing all those who abused
\npublic trust. Nigerians will\u00a0 see how some of the elite conspired to run
