\nThe ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State does not deserve
\nthe votes of the electorate in Rivers South West Senatorial Zone during
\nthe rerun State and National Assembly elections scheduled to hold across
\nthe State on Saturday, March 19, 2016.<\/p>\n
The State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) made this
\ndeclaration on Tuesday, appealing to voters in the South West Senatorial
\nDistrict of the State to repay PDP and Governor Nyesom Wike for their
\natrocities against the Zone by massively rejecting PDP candidates and
\ncasting their votes for APC candidates on Saturday.
\n\u201cChief Wike and PDP collaborated with the administration of former
\npresident, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, to cede the Rivers State oil wells in
\nthe Kalabari Kingdom to Bayelsa State. As if that was not enough, Wike,
\nafter imposing himself as governor, has within a short time turned the
\nSouth West into a killing field. We appeal to the good people of Rivers
\nSouth West Senatorial Zone to demonstrate their rejection of Wike and PDP
\nby overwhelmingly voting for APC candidates during Saturday\u2019s rerun
\nelections,\u201d Rivers APC said in a statement issued in Port Harcourt by the
\nState Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya.
\nThe statement regretted that in less than ten months of their occupation
\nof the Government House, \u201cGovernor Wike and PDP have turned Rivers South
\nWest Senatorial District into a place of mourning where innocent citizens
\nare slaughtered and burnt like goats on daily basis.\u201d
\nRivers APC noted that \u201cWike\u2019s hatred for Rivers South West Senatorial
\nDistrict has never been hidden, as it was the same Wike who frustrated all
\nthe plans to construct the Trans-Kalabari Road.\u201d
\n\u201cIf there is a time to reward both Wike and PDP for their evil acts
\nagainst this zone, the March 19th rerun election is the appropriate time.
\nWe therefore plead with the voters in Rivers South West to vote in APC\u2019s
\nRt.Hon.Otelemaba Dan Amachree as their Senator. The party further stated
\nthat with Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Daniel Amachree a one time Speaker of the
\nRivers State House of Assembly and the longest serving member in any State
\nHouse of Assembly in Nigeria, having served his constituency a record four
\ntimes, from 1999 till 2015 coupled with his legendary contribution to the
\nnationally acclaimed stability of the Rivers State House of Assembly since
\n1999; this one time Chairman of South-South Speakers Conference in
\nrecognition of his leadership acumen, Rivers State can be assured that
\ntheir feelings and interests will be highly protected and guided jealously
\nby this great lawmaker in the Upper Chamber.
\nThe party urged the South West electorate to also vote for the party\u2019s
\ncandidate for the Federal House of Representatives,\u00a0 Hon Dr Dawari George
\na one time Commissioner for Energy in Rivers State considering his feats
\nin the Federal House of Assembly and other APC candidates from this zone
\nthat is the strong base of APC to bring to pass the prophecy foretold.
