Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said President Mohammadu<\/p>\n
Buhari must be held accountable for the violence and loss of lives in
\nRivers State rerun elections, saying; \u201cMembers of Buhari\u2019s party, All
\nProgressives Congress (APC) are emboldened to unleash violence on the
\npeople of Rivers State and other States in Nigeria because they know
\nthat the president won\u2019t lift a finger provided his party members are
\nthe ones perpetrating evil.\u201d<\/p>\n
The governor said \u201cthose who called the Ekiti State governorship
\nelection in which soldiers and other security agents made sure that
\nthat there was no violence, no live was lost during and after the
\nelection and no ballot was snatched EkitiGate should be asked what the
\nRivers election in which eight people were killed and several others
\ninjured will be called.\u201d<\/p>\n
A statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and
\nNew Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said President Buhari\u2019s way
\nwas to protect his party people, and his Hausa\/Fulani tribe, hence
\ntheir boldness to perpetrate evil.<\/p>\n
The governor maintained that President Buhari\u2019s culpability in the
\nkillings in Rivers State and the manner Independent National Electoral
\nCommission (INEC) has destroyed the legacy of free, fair and
\ntransparent elections bequeathed on Nigeria by the PDP government
\nformer President Goodluck Jonathan was not in doubt.<\/p>\n
He said; \u201cCan President Buhari fold his arms if the people being
\nkilled are from Daura in Katsina State? Is it that any soul that is
\nnot a Fulani is not important to the President?\u201d<\/p>\n
The governor, who challenged the Military authority to probe the roles
\nof soldiers in the Rivers State election, added that; \u201cIf they could
\nprobe soldiers who participated in the Ekiti State governorship
\nelection despite their commendation by the international community for
\nproviding a safe environment free of major incidents, one wonders what
\nthey are going to do in the case of Rivers State in which peoples were
\nallegedly killed by soldiers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat are they going to call Rivers election since they called that of
\nEkiti State EkitiGate? Are they going to call Rivers election in which
\nseveral people were shot dead allegedly by security agents, election
\ninconclusive, fake Results Sheets produced by INEC
\nRiversBuhariAmaechiGate?\u201d<\/p>\n
While calling for the immediate sack of INEC chairman, Professor
\nMahmood Yakubu, the governor said Nigerians must ask questions as to
\nhow INEC produced Results Sheets of over 230 polling units with PDP
\nomitted.<\/p>\n
He said if nothing was done to INEC as presently constituted, 2019
\nwill spell doom for the country\u2019s democracy, adding that \u201cIf 2019
\nelections will not be messed up and be made inconclusive, lovers of
\ndemocracy in the country must not keep silent on the mess our
