The\u00a0 campaign organisation of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement (PAAM) has berated the State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi over his stoppage of celebration of this year’s World Teachers Day in the State, saying the governor was behaving like a dictator.<\/p>\n
According to a statement issued today by the Director General of PAAM, Hon. Bisi Kolawole, “Fayemi’s action is a clear exhibition of dictatorship that must be condemned by all lovers of democracy.<\/p>\n
PAAM, which also decried the use of thugs to disrupt peaceful gathering of people, said it was shocked to learn that armed thugs were used to chase the teachers away from the NUT secretariat, Ado-Ekiti where the teachers were celebrating the World Teachers Day
\nin defiance to the governor’s order.<\/p>\n
“Even though we are not surprised at the governor’s action because he must be afraid of being ridiculed by the angry teachers, we are worried that a supposed democratically elected governor would take his dictatorial tendency to the level of preventing teachers from
\nobserving a day that is observed throughout the world.<\/p>\n
“The way Fayemi is going, soon, he will order the postponement of Christmas, New Year or even Sallah and go ahead to send thugs to beat up anyone found celebrating the festivals,” PAAM said.<\/p>\n
While berating the governor for refusing to pay the 27 percent TSS, PAAM said; “Before Fayemi became governor, teachers in the state were being paid the 27 percent TSS.<\/p>\n
