{"id":47964,"date":"2016-03-28T19:09:23","date_gmt":"2016-03-28T18:09:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=47964"},"modified":"2016-03-28T19:09:23","modified_gmt":"2016-03-28T18:09:23","slug":"wont-touch-amaechis-rivers-monorail-wike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/wont-touch-amaechis-rivers-monorail-wike\/","title":{"rendered":"Why i Won\u2019t Touch Amaechi\u2019s Rivers Monorail- Wike"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"messagecontent\">\n<div class=\"leftcol\">\n<div id=\"messagebody\">\n<div class=\"message-htmlpart\">\n<div class=\"rcmBody\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said the Rivers\u00a0 monorail abandoned by Rotimi Amaechi after spending a whooping $400million,\u00a0 would not touched.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said however that\u00a0 his administration would strive to complete numerous projects abandoned by his\u00a0 predecessor.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cRivers people have told me not to touch the Monorail left behind by the other government,\u201d he said today in an interview on Channels TV.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Insiders said the project initiated by Amaechi has gulped over $400 million dollars, with the project far from being completed. In contrast, Cross River state that has spent less than $40million has its own monorail almost ready.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The monorail is a system designed by Intamin, and is similar to the monorail that was constructed in Moscow Russia for $240 million dollars by the same monorail manufacturer.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to experts following the monorail development, the Moscow system that connects to the Moscow subway is more extensive than the Rivers system with more frequency of traffic and sophistication.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe two companies building the pylons and track work designed by Intamin in Nigeria were; ARCUS GIBBS Nig Ltd and TSI Nig Ltd. Between the two partners and contractors with Rivers State, at least 40 billion naira ($270 million dollars) was spent.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Governor Wike had alleged that an additional $135million was spent on other related works, including standard infrastructure adjustments to clear the way for the rail line.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Calabar Cross River State, the same firm Intamin, building the Rivers monorail, partnered with the government there to build a monorail system for N5 Billion (36 million dollars)!<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Calabar system is reportedly already functioning and is now conducting test runs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said the Rivers\u00a0 monorail abandoned by Rotimi Amaechi after spending a whooping $400million,\u00a0 would not touched.
