The Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has sent his words of<\/p>\n
consolation to his brother Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and the entire
\npeople of Enugu State over the unfortunate incident of the Monday invasion
\nof Ukpabi Nimbo community in Uzouwani Local Council of Enugu State by
\nsuspected Fulani herdsmen.<\/p>\n
The Governor condemns the carnage and wanton destruction of human lives
\nmeted out to the defenceless people of Nimbo by the herdsmen and also
\ncondemns the excesses of the herdsmen across Nigeria, warning that the
\nsituation could degenerate into a national crisis if drastic measures are
\nnot taken by the Federal Government to checkmate the rampage.<\/p>\n
Governor Ikpeazu noted that the herdsmen audacious killings and sacking of
\ncommunities and farmlands constitute another national security challenge
\nand a huge threat to the peace and unity of the country, stressing that
\nthe trend is a time-bomb waiting to explode.<\/p>\n
He expressed worry over how the security apparatus of the country has
\ntreated the dangerous trend with kid gloves, resulting in more invasion of
\ncommunities by the herdsmen, from Agatu, through Ondo, Delta, Benue and
\nnow Enugu.<\/p>\n
The Governor further observed that the herdsmen could be another disguised
\nform of terrorism and insurgency and called on President Muhammadu Buhari
\nto nip this trend in the bud before it gets out of hand like Boko Haram.<\/p>\n
He commiserated with the families who lost their loved ones in the
\nmidnight carnage and prayed God to give them the fortitude to bear the
