Sokoto government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bank of
\nindustry for the establishment of a N2 billion industrial development fund
\nin the state.<\/p>\n
Speaking during the signing of the MoU in Sokoto Thursday, Governor Aminu
\nWaziri Tambuwal said the two parties will provide a billion Naira each,
\nwhile the fund will focus on micro, small and medium scale enterprises.<\/p>\n
A statement issued by the Governor’s spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, quoted
\nTambuwal as saying that the focus on SMEs was important because they are
\ncritical component in implementing the industrialization policy of his
\nadministration.<\/p>\n
“Sokoto state government is determined to give the people all the required
\nsupport to improve their businesses. I urge our entrepreneurs, businessmen
\nand women to take advantage of this opportunity to enhance their capacity
\nand improve on their businesses for effective service delivery,” the
\nGovernor added.<\/p>\n
He said in order to ensure maximum benefit, government will only recommend
\nthose who have the capability to judiciously utilise the funds.<\/p>\n
Tambuwal reiterated the government’s commitment to implement the terms of
\nthe agreement and assured that the efforts will yield positive results.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, BoI’s Acting Managing Director, Mr Waheed Olagunjo said the
\nmatching fund was intended to positively impact on the industrial
\ndevelopment of Sokoto state.<\/p>\n
He added that the synergy created between the two parties would provide a
\nveritable platform for Sokoto State to experience accelerated economic
\ngrowth and transformation.<\/p>\n
While thanking the Governor for giving BoI an office accommodation in
\nSokoto, Olagunju said the bank will continue to support the business
\ncommunity in the state so as to improve their economic well-being.<\/p>\n
