The Joint Task Force codenamed \u2018Operation Pulo Shield\u2019\u2019 has stated that<\/p>\n
it lost three soldiers in a gun battle with Niger Delta militants on
\nMonday night.<\/p>\n
The onslaught happened in Foropa, Southern Ijaw Council Area of Bayelsa
\nState.<\/p>\n
JTF\u2019s spokesperson, Colonel Isa Ado who gave the confirmation,said the
\nthree soldiers were killed while confronting pirates and militants.<\/p>\n
Colonel Ado said that JTF troop has been stationed in the riverside
\ncommunity since 2010, noting that the military patrol team was attacked by
\na combined team of suspected militants and sea pirates, but that the team
\nfought gallantly to ward off the attack.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe location came under fierce attack and three of our soldiers, who were
\nhit by bullets, died ontheir way to the hospital. There were so many
\ncasualties on the side of the militants, but we cannot precisely know the
\nnumber\u2019\u2019, he said.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cThe morale of the troops remains high and the sacrifices of
\nthese soldiers shall never bein vain; we remain resolute in our
\ndetermination to stamp out oil theft and illegalities in the Niger Delta
\nregion.<\/p>\n
