AKWA Ibom State governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, has explained that he sought the office of the governor of the state as a platform to transform people\u2019s lives, noting that he was driven by the love for his people and determined to prove that government could work.<\/p>\n
Akpabio, who spoke on Wednesday, at the Wesley University of Science and Technology, Ondo (WUSTO), where he was awarded doctor of science degree in Human Resource Management (Honoris Causa), appreciated the management, staff and students of the university for the honour, saying that was his first time of being honoured in an inaugural graduation ceremony of a university.<\/p>\n
He dedicated the award to God and the people of Akwa Ibom State, who gave him the mandate to be their servant, while also encouraging the graduating students to draw strength from his story.<\/p>\n
The governor noted that his love for the people of the state had been the motivating factor for the massive transformation works ongoing in the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow are we embarking on the uncommon transformation of my state? I do not know. All I know is that I love my people, I love this country, I love humanity.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to do the best for my people. I want to give them the best because they deserve the best. From the e-Library, the first of its kind in West Africa, to the underground pipe-jacking technology, the first if its kind in Africa, we are putting infrastructure which transcends our developmental status and time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
