THE Nigeria Labour Congress,NLC and the Trade Union Congress,TUC will proceed on an \u00a0indefinite strike, to protest the hike in pump price, Pointblanknws.com has learnt.<\/p>\n
The factional NLC,led by the General Secretary of the National Union of Electricity Employees,Joe Ajaero, may not join the strike. He had hinted yesterday that his leadership was not favourably disposed to embarking on the strike.<\/p>\n
The strike which takes \u00a0 effect from Midnight Tuesday, is a brainchild of \u00a0the resolution of the union at its National Executive Council,NEC meeting, held early Tuesday at the NLC headquarters in Abuja.<\/p>\n
The \u00a0unions took the decision to mobilise workers on strike,after exhaustive deliberations on last week\u2019s fuel hike by the federal government and the attendant consequences on the Nigerian workers and the general public.<\/p>\n
It was gathered that despite moves by the government to stop the action, \u00a0the decision to go ahead \u00a0was \u00a0fuelled by Tuesday’s \u00a0injunction by the Industrial Court,restraining us from proceeding on the strike expected to begin Wednesday.<\/p>\n
As at the time of filing this report, the leadership of the NLC and the TUC were yet to turn up for continuation of the meeting which was adjourned earlier.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
