region\u00a0 with\u00a0 the emergence of new groups, Red Egbesu
\nWater Lions and\u00a0 Isoko Liberation Movement.<\/p>\n
The Isoko Liberation Movement has\u00a0 given its backing to the\u00a0 activities of
\nthe Red Egbesu Water Lions and Niger Delta Avengers, who have been bombing
\noil and gas facilities in
\nrecent times.<\/p>\n
Besides, the group charged the Indigenous People of Biafra\u00a0 not to relent
\nin their struggle for a separate homeland, maintaining that the Niger
\nDelta republic would be realized.<\/p>\n
The coming of Red Egbesu Water Lions corresponded with the\u00a0 blowing up of
\nthe Sagbama-Tuomo gas line, belonging to the
\nItalian oilgiants, Nigerian Agip Oil Company, NAOC, at Egbembiri, Southern
\nIjaw and Brassin Brass Council Areas respectively.<\/p>\n
The attacks on the Egbembiri pipeline have affected about 1000 barrels per
\nday, which has forced the oil firm to shut\u00a0 down operations in Bayelsa
\nState.<\/p>\n
Egbembiri is a border town between Bayelsa and Delta states.
\nThe new group, in a statement by its Creek Network Coordinator,
\nGeneral Torunanawei Latei, said it was\u00a0 working in partnership with the
\nNiger Delta Avengers and Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.<\/p>\n
It threatened the Federal Government with a 7-day ultimatum to release the
\nleader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo
\nDasuki and direct\u00a0 Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to
\ndefreeze the bank accounts of ex-militant leader,Government Ekpemupol,
\nalias Tompolo.<\/p>\n
The group threatened to cripple the economy at the expiration of the
\nultimatum, even as it also called for the unconditional and immediate
\npayment to victims of the Bonga\u00a0 Oil Spill and Chevron gas explosion in
\nKoluama, Bayelsa
\nstate\u009d.<\/p>\n
It added: It is extremely important to note that the\u00a0 engine room of
\nthe national interest is the executive obedience to court orders
\n,protection and preservation\u00a0 of\u00a0 citizens constitutional liberties
\nJustification of executive disobedience to court orders as a protection of
\nnational interest is abominable.<\/p>\n
This is a deliberate ploy to bend the law and suspend the\u00a0 1999
\nConstitution. We ask, does President Muhammadu Buhari have anyl egal
\ncapacity to declare anyone as a criminal?
