This is as a result of the incessant bombing of their facilities by
\nmilitants in the Niger Delta region.<\/p>\n
Among the facilities destroyed by the militants belonging to the two firms
\nare: Forcados Terminal subsea crude export pipeline, Well D25 Valve
\nPlatform, Ogan Fspo, Makaraba line among others.<\/p>\n
The group has also threatened to target their offshore platforms,
\nincluding Bonga Fpso, EA field and their tank farms such as Bonny tank
\nfarm, Escravos tank farm and Forcados tank farm.<\/p>\n
The shadowy group is alleged to be operating from the Gbaramatu axis of
\nDelta State.<\/p>\n
Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Council Area of Delta State is home
\nto ex-warlord, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tomplo, who is
\nwanted over allegations of financial enrichment.<\/p>\n
Security reports have linked the embattled ex-militant leader to being the
\nchief sponsor of the group which has embarked on deadly attacks since he
\nwas declared wanted by the government.<\/p>\n
Responding to the operation of The Shell Petroleum Development Company of
\nNigeria Ltd (SPDC), its spokesperson, Joseph Obari said: \u201cWe continue to
\nmonitor the security situation in our operating areas in the Niger Delta
\nand are taking all possible steps to ensure the safety of staff and
\ncontractors. We do not wish to go into details. Our operations are
\ncontinuing.\u201d<\/p>\n
On the damaged Forcados Terminal subsea crude export pipeline, he said:
\n\u2018\u2019SPDC is intensifying efforts on spill containment and spilled oil
\nrecovery on the February 14 2016 spill, while also finalizing repair plans
\npending the conclusion of the ongoing Joint Investigation Visit into the
\ncause and impact of the spill.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n
He was however silent on the actual production quota of the company since
\nthe key export line was hit by the militants.<\/p>\n
For his part, General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs
\n(PGPA)Chevron Nigeria Limited, Deji Haastrup, said tersely : \u2018\u2019 We are
\nnot commenting on this at this time. Suffice to say that our number one
\npriority is the safety of people and the protection of the environment and
\nphysical assets.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n
