President Muhammadu Buhari has no say in what the EFCC does, VP Yemi Osinbajo has said.<\/p>\n
According to him,\u00a0 Buhari would never dictate to the EFCC, and other security agencies on who to investigate or release in the course of the ongoing anti-corruption war.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are given the independence to act; they are given the authority and backing to act in their own and to use their own discretion appropriately at all times.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou don\u2019t get any situation where the President says go get that person of back off that person.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll of us know that the President is completely committed to fighting corruption and economic crimes and terrorism.\u201d<\/p>\n
Osinbajo spoke at the inauguration of\u00a0 the National Prosecution Coordination Committee at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
\nHe said the present administration had given the agencies the independence to use their discretion in carrying out their duties.<\/p>\n
The Vice-President said, \u201cWhen you look at the way that the EFCC and other law enforcement agencies have acted in recent times you will notice that they are not under any kind of direction of influence of the President.<\/p>\n
Osinbajo however said in giving them free hand, Buhari also expected that the agencies use their powers with fairness, devoid of any prejudice.<\/p>\n
