Centres, Town halls and renovation of Mosques in Bauchi State amounting to
\nthe tune of N275 million.<\/p>\n
Although the Federal Government has remained unmoved by calls to make
\ndetails of the budget public, OrderPaper.ng can authoritatively report
\nthat the Act contains several mind-boggling proposals that indicate huge
\npadding, misplacement of priorities, and wrong imputation into Ministries,
\nDepartments and Agencies (MDAs) that are inappropriate for implementation.<\/p>\n
The Mosques, Town halls and Viewing Centres projects are captured in the
\nAct under the Federal Ministry of Works, Power, Housing where immediate
\npast governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, is minister.<\/p>\n
In one of the items entitled, \u201cRenovation of worship centres in Gori
\nMosque, Dass Central Mosque, Bununu Mosque and Lere Mosque in Bauchi
\nState,\u201d the sum of N80million (Eighty million naira) was allocated to the
\nprojects.<\/p>\n
The other item is entitled \u201cConstruction of Viewing Centres at Nabal,
\nDull, Duglum, Dutsen, Goggo, Kurumdodo, Dashem Bakin Kogi, and Gital in
\nBauchi State,\u201d has a provision of N70million (Seventy million naira)<\/p>\n
The Town Hall projects also in Bauchi State has a provision of N125million
\n(One hundred and twenty-five million) for areas in Gambar, Zulla, Yamar,
\nTapshin and Gambar Zugum.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Works, Power and Housing has the highest budgetary
\nallocation in the 2016 Appropriation Act which was signed on May 6 after
\nseveral months of delay and buck-passing between the Executive and
\nLegislature. The ministry\u2019s budget for Capital Projects if
\nN422,964,928,495.<\/p>\n
It is not clear how the renovation of Mosques and construction of Town
\nHalls and Viewing Centres in a State have become the business of the
\nFederal Government to have attracted an allocation of N275million.<\/p>\n
