{"id":49866,"date":"2016-06-03T00:22:59","date_gmt":"2016-06-02T23:22:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=49866"},"modified":"2016-06-03T00:22:59","modified_gmt":"2016-06-02T23:22:59","slug":"efcc-tells-court-fani-kayode-must-remain-custody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/efcc-tells-court-fani-kayode-must-remain-custody\/","title":{"rendered":"EFCC tells court why Fani-Kayode must remain in custody"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission\u00a0 on Thursday explained why Femi Fani-Kayode would not go home any time soon.<\/p>\n<p>The former presidential campaign spokesman had been in\u00a0 incarceration for over two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The EFCC said\u00a0 it was investigating\u00a0 a fresh allegation,\u00a0 was different from the case of the N800m which the former Minister of Aviation allegedly received as campaign fund from the $2.1bn meant for procurement of arms.<\/p>\n<p>It said this on Thursday before a High Court of the Federal High Court in Apo, Abuja, where it also disclosed that fresh petition received against the former minister by its Special Task Force in its Lagos office was what prompted it to move him from Abuja to Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>Counsel for the EFCC, Mr. Salisu Majidadi, appeared before Justice Olukayode Adeniyi, on behalf of the commission to oppose a fundamental human rights enforcement suit filed by Fani-Kayode, seeking an order releasing from the custody of the anti-graft agency.<\/p>\n<p>But Fani-Kayode\u2019s lawyer, Chief Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), who earlier argued his client\u2019s suit, insisted that the commission having failed to present the fresh petition as exhibit before the court, showed there was no proof that there was any ongoing investigation of his client.<\/p>\n<p>The judge after hearing both sides on Thursday fixed June 29 for judgment in the suit.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission\u00a0 on Thursday explained why Femi Fani-Kayode would not go home any time soon.
