The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has charged the National<\/p>\n

Contractors Association of Nigeria to register with the Bureau for<\/p>\n

Public Procurement (BPP) as Non-Governmental Organization to enable it<\/p>\n

monitor activities of contractors in the country.<\/p>\n

The Minister gave this charge on Tuesday in his office while receiving<\/p>\n

the leadership of the National Contractors Association of Nigeria led<\/p>\n

by it National Chairman, Mr. Onuche Okoh.<\/p>\n

The Minister remarked that the Procurement Act has given<\/p>\n

Non-Governmental Organizations and Civil Society Organizations a<\/p>\n

window to register with the BPP to participate as watchdogs in the<\/p>\n

entire contract processes in the country.<\/p>\n

Malam Bello therefore encouraged the Association to study the Act and<\/p>\n

take advantage of the window provided to strengthen the performance of<\/p>\n

contractors in the country.<\/p>\n

He welcomed the Association\u2019s interest to partner with the FCT<\/p>\n

Administration but said that the relationship can only be consummated<\/p>\n

when the BPP writes the FCT Administration in that regard.<\/p>\n

Speaking earlier, the National Chairman of the National Contractors<\/p>\n

Association of Nigeria, Mr. Onuche Okoh, revealed that the Association<\/p>\n

was established in 1987.<\/p>\n

The National Chairman frowned at several numbers of uncompleted<\/p>\n

buildings scattered across the country and promised to help eradicate<\/p>\n

abandoned projects.<\/p>\n

According to him, the association will go back to the basics by<\/p>\n

monitoring the activities of the contractors by entrenching<\/p>\n

transparency and integrity.<\/p>\n

The FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye, as well as other<\/p>\n

officials of the FCT Administration attended the brief rendezvous<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
